free water???

I thought I heard somewhere that some, if not all, counter service restaurants are giving away free ice water...is this true? If not, is there anywhere you can get free ice water?

I got free ice water at every counter service where I asked. The only time things got confusing was once when we didn't order any food - our drinks were sitting there for awhile while the counter person waited for food to be ready to go with them, until I said "Oh, we're just getting the water!"

Every time I saw someone buying a bottle of water, I cringed!

The free water that is given at the CS places is filtered, too. It doesn't taste like the water fountain water. We were there last week and everyplace we asked for ice water we received it. There was never a problem.

Ditto on the free water at all CS. I ask for water with ice all the time. I do this also at DLR. It seems to depend on the server as to what size cup you get. Some people complain about the taste of the water but I like it fine. I do carry those flavor tubes (Crystalite or others) that you can add to water. My DD8 really likes them.


I too have gone up to a window just to request water. I can't bring myself to pay for something so basic as water.

I was in a world of hurt this past Saturday (left the water bottle back in the car - "quick trip" indeed!). I went to the Liberty Inn at Epcot and went directly up to the counter and asked for water. The first Cast Member I asked was clearly getting food for everyone else so she didn't help me. But then I saw a manager and asked him for some (he was waiting for something to come out to be served) and got my ice water.

I do ask that if you want the free water but haven't ordered anything from the line, to please go through the regular line for that. The Cast Members behind the counter are very busy with people who are waiting for food. If you just want the water because it's free, wait your turn.

I know I didn't, but I was about ready to pass out. The first Cast Member who couldn't help me really made me realize what I was doing was rude.

It's company policy to give out ice and "tap" water when asked. The only exception is the big tubs that have all the bottled drinks in a bunch of ice, you cannot have that ice, too many hands in it, bottles in it, not clean at all .

okey you can laugh at me........a few weeks ago it ws very hot in Disney....so a CM at a drink cart gave me a piece of ice to put in my hands...very nice of her and I held it for a few and put it on my wrist...and then NOT knowing what I was doing I plopped it in my mouth.....My granddaughter who had just got out of her first year of College Yelled.GRAMMA......she had that in her hands too.....I almost gagged.

But I always get water at the Cs with ice and they always do it with a smile with my meals ......
