Free Valet question - my guests in two bedroom villa...

This may help...

make sure that MS knows that you want a 2nd ID Card, not a 2nd ID Number.

I doubt that its the problem, but people can get mixed up.

We bought our first contract resale and received 2 cards. We have since added on twice with Disney and have not received any additional cards for those add-ons.

We've talked with our rep. several times about it and keep being told by him that it's "Only one per contract". Like I said, it's no big deal, but it does bother me to hear other wise here on the boards.:confused3
If you own at one of the WDW resorts, have you looked up your deed on the Orange County website to see if both of you are listed on the deed? Here is the link to the search page. Put in your last name and first name (do NOT put a comma in between), and put in the letter d for the document type code. In the search results, click on the "View" link next to your contract. The Document Details on the left list the names on the deed under "Grantees". To see the actual deed, click on the "View PDF" button. http://officialrecords.occompt.com/wb_or1/or_sch_1.asp

Given those would have been under one contract number, you should not have gotten additional cards.

We bought new from Disney at VWL this August and received two cards - one in my name and one in DH's name.

We also have multiple cards. In 1999 we originally bought from Disney & each received a card with our name & our contract number stamped in gold. Sometime after that we added on through Disney but I don't recall getting additional cards at that time. However sometime between then and now they did send us new cards for that contract. Our name & number are black inside of a pale lavendar (or gray) rectangle. Then two years ago we bought resale from TTS and we each got a card with our name & new contract number on it, like the second ones. So, I guess in all we got six cards for the two of us, although I can't find my original one so I only have five in my possession.

I don't understand why they won't give you a second one. It doesn't make sense, unless, like Dean said, maybe your spouse's name was omitted. I would check if I were you.

I just have to know! How did you get two member IDs? The wife and I have been trying to get one for each of us since we joined DVC in 99.
TIA

I'm just the opposite, I can't stop Blue Member IDs from comming.

For one Master Contract with just 1 contract (.000), purchased resale....

DW and I got ID cards with the original purchaser's date of purchase (1992) but our names. Then a month later a second set came, then later in the year a third set. (Now before I get roasted, we did not request any of these cards, we did not move, we did not change names, and we did not point out the incorrect date of membership.)

Fast forward 4 years, DW and I purchase direct from Disney (as a new Master Contract, we did not tell them about our resale master, titles in opposite order, DW first, me second......)

New set of cards came for this contract, then a month later a new set for our old contract (with the date of membership corrected).

Guess what happenned next month? Yup! A new set of our Direct Disney Member Cards, and another new set of our resale contract cards.

I have sooooooo many cards, I considered 'renting' some of the extras on eBay. I said considered, I didn't though!

Seriously we now have over 20 (10 each) Blue Member ID cards for two master contracts....

I can't explain this.....

Before we joined, we stayed with my cousin and they did allow us to valet, BUT......you have to be sure that your room isn't charged. They make mistakes! Now that we are DVC members, we used our valet option when we had dinner at another resort several times and we were accidentally billed for it upon check out.... we had to fix it before leaving.

It makes me wonder if your spouse is not actually on the deed. To be honest, this is only the second time I've heard this issue in the 13 years I've owned DVC going back to the Prodigy boards. As I noted, my wife even got one for a contract she's not even listed on. If you've talked to your guide and a MS supervisor, I'd simply take it up the ladder. Or you might try simply calling and asking for a replacement card for you wife without getting in to the other details and see what happens.

I agree, up the ladder is the next step.

I'll make sure they are clear on the problem.

Thanks for the input :thumbsup2

Here is the DVC rules and regs info on this subject.
IV. MEMBER BENEFITS AND PRIVILEGES
1. Disney Vacation Club Member Card
1) Each Club Member named on the deed of an Ownership Interest will receive a Disney Vacation Club Member Card ("DVC Member Card"). The Member Card includes the name of the Club Member, his or her Membership number, and the Club Member's Use Year.
2) DVC Member Cards will not be issued to Associates. DVC Member Cards will not be issued to the Principal Contact unless he or she is also a Club Member.
3) Each DVC Member Card has an expiration date printed on it. Club Members will be issued new DVC Member Cards or validation stickers as long as they maintain their Annual Dues and monthly mortgage loan payments (if applicable).
4) Presentation of the DVC Member Card may be necessary to receive certain Club Member benefits and privileges.

This cleared up the question I was going to ask.

I am renting DVC points for a June Ressie at AKV and the owner told me that we could use the free valet by just presenting our room key. I am sooooo glad that I double checked here on the good ol DIS to find out that this is not the case before I started making all of our plans and before we arrived. Also if we do buy DVC I will try to make sure DH and I our both listed on all of our paperwork so that we can get 2 membership cards.

Thank you DIS!
