Does the DVC every offer a free weekend trial, like other timeshare companies do?

We are really interested, but before pluncking down 20-25,000 we want to make sure that we like the rooms and the lack of normal hotel services(housekeeping).

Has anyone ever requested a weekend stay and received it.

We just returned from WDW and really do not want to pay again for a stay if we are going to buy. It takes money away from what we can spend on points. But again we don't want to buy without first trying it.

Please let me know. They probably don't offer this, but it was worth asking

Thanks

No, never at WDW. There have been low priced stay offered at HH and I believe VB in return for sitting through a presentation....pleasent, no-pressure presentation, but a presentation none the less.

You may want to try renting points from a member, reserving a room on cash or just take our word for the rooms being great.

I have seeen them offer special rates for certain DVC locations, but never a free weekend.

We have been members for 5 years and the housekeeping issue has never been a problem for us or anyone we know. How dirty can you make a place in 3 days? They will come in on day 4 and dump the trash and give you clean towels. The only thing I have ever done is to take out the garbage, and load the dishwasher, total time 2 minutes.

Actually I don't know anyone that offers free stays for a timeshare tour but many offer very attractive discounts. I've seen some versions of this at VB and HH but never at WDW. Your best option would be to go stay on property at DVC or better yet, to rent from a member and try it out to see if it's for you.

I would also like to encourage you to visit ALL the DVC resorts with your guide when you take the tour. This will help you make a decision about which resort you like best. If it happenes to be a sold out one, you can try resale ( which can be a savings as well), or ask to be put on a list for points at that resort.

As to the housekeeping issue. I prefer no housekeeping. It is wonderful to not have to worry about someone coming into the room when we are out. It is no big deal to make the bed in the morning ( we do it at home), and if we want fresh towels everyday, we just throw them in the washer when we leave in the morning and put them in the dryer when we get back to the room for our midday break. Be sure to think of these as "vacation homes" rather than a hotel room. You will have a full kitchen, jacuzzi, laundry room, and living room. That is a far cry from a hotel room or studio.

You could always go to the rental board and arrange for a DVC member to set up a "test" stay for you. Personally, I don't think that it's necessary. The models really show the rooms as they are. The "housekeeping" every 4 days is actually more than any of us have in our homes:D :D :D :D ..........

Good Luck,

I did get an offer at VB for three nights for some really cheap rate and a fourth night free. I was going to take it but then found these boards as I was reasearching DVC and found the rental board and got a deal at OKW instead.

I would recommend renting points for a stay to see if you like DVC. I would also set up an appointment for a tour/presentation while there. The stay we had, really clinched it for my fiance and when we took the tour we had scheduled we signed up then and there. Of course we had done much research before going on the trip and were pretty interested so it was an easy close ;)

Check it out, and you will see why there are so many DVC members. WE love it, so much we already bought an add-on and we have not even been "home" yet.
