Has anyone else tried to verify the validity of tickets won through TV stations and other ways? It's kind of a hastle. About 10 days ago, I emailed the customer service at Universal because a coworker of mine gave me 2 tickets she won from a local TV station. Before going to the parks to be told the tickets were no good, I wanted to make sure they were valid.

About 4 days ago they finally replied asking me to fax or email them copies of the tickets and they would check them for me. I did so immediately. I still haven't heard back from them and I really need to book my hotel and finalize my plans. Of course, the delay could simply be due to the weather in central Florida, but I wondered if anyone else had experienced something similar. I don't want to be frustrated simply because that's normal time for them or whatever.

You might want to send a PM to Phamton as she would be able to help you.

Most of the themeparks make you bring your tickets in person to check the validity. I know Disney does not even let you fax them a copy. You have to bring them in to them. Universal will check them if you fax them in. It is a courtesy they do for the guests.

Is there a reason that you think the tickets are not good? I'm sure if they were won then they should be good unless the winner already used them.

The storms have been bad since Tuesday. There are probably some more issues they are dealing with. You can either call back or give them time to get back to you.

I would go ahead and book your trip. Most likely the tickets are fine. What is the worse that could happen? If the tickets were used, you could just purchase 2 new tickets online or at the gate. There are some excellent deals on tickets right now.

I just won 2 free tickets from my local Miami TV station WSVN. I forgot I entered this contest promoting the Simpson's ride. I'll be picking them up tomorrow. I'm getting 2 adult tickets & 1 free parking pass for 1 day. I'm just booking my hotel (hotwire has awesome hotel deals now). Planning on going 9/13/08. Never thought they'd be a scam unless you're getting them second hand or buying them from someone you don't know.

I totally trust the person I got them from. She's a co-worker and a good friend. I live 4 hours away and just wanted to make sure they were good before we got there and there be some kind of red tape about using the tickets. We just got back from a big trip to Disney and have another one in a few months so the DW wasn't interested in us spending anymore money for another trip. Since these were free tickets, she didn't complain about spending the money for gas and 1 night's hotel.

It sounds like you won the exact thing I won though. It's 2 adult (1 Day-2 Park) tickets with parking. The tickets say COMP on them. I definitely think they are legit though.

Phamtom, I emailed them scanned copies. Could that be part of the delay? I don't have the original email anymore, but I could have swore it said to either fax them or email them scanned copies. They were highly legible (better than a fax coy, which is why I did that instead).

small world, we also won two tickets & a free parking pass for one day from our local cable company promoting the simpson's ride.

I am sure they are fine. If you are worried, just call them back at Guest Services.
