So my Mom, sisters and I are heading to DL next week :cheer2: and I am kind of pushing Mom to get there for her B-day on monday. I know that she can get into the park free, but I have also heard that one can get free stuff because it's their b-day. What kind of free stuff? Trying to get her to go on her b-day is becoming a challenge, so I need more ammo for my side. Also, We are planning on buying 5day parkhoppers, will she be able to get a discount because of her b-day?
If I get my way we will be leaving Salt Lake City Saturday, so I can keep her distracted in the car (my father passed away in April this year, and Saturday is their anniversary). I just want her to have a happy time, and to not be too sad.

Hi,

I haven't actually claimed it, but it does seem that you can choose to have a gift card etc instead of the free entry - this is what is posted on the Disneyland website:

Q: I purchased* a valid Annual Passport or a Multi-Day Ticket that I will use for admission on my birthday in 2009, so I don't need to take advantage of this offer. Is there anything else I could receive on my birthday?

A: Yes, you have several options which are available for you to select once you arrive at the Park with your confirmation message, your proper valid ID, and your Passport or Multi-Day ticket that you will use for admission on your birthday. You can choose one of the following:

* A birthday FASTPASS® exchange card+ for a certain number attractions at both Disneyland® Park and Disney's California Adventure® Park; or
* A birthday fun card in an amount equal to the price of a 1-Day/I1-Park ticket** for certain purchases including select merchandise, tour experiences or for Disney's PhotoPass® on-site services at participating locations at Disneyland® Resort; or
* A 1-Day/1-Park ticket for you to use any time until your next birthday.

*Guests using complimentary ticket media for admission on their birthday are not eligible to receive these listed options.

+The number of birthday FASTPASS exchange cards issued per day is limited and may not be available after 11am. Valid Theme Park admission required. FASTPASS benefit for birthday celebrant and up to 5 members of his/her party.

**Ticket price at Main Entrance ticket booth. Adults receive card in the amount of an adult ticket; children (ages 3-9) receive card in the amount of a child ticket. For terms and conditions of the card and details on

Hope that is helpful!

Yep! Maryr1oz is right--if she already has a park hopper, she can get the $69 gift card or the special Fast Pass. As I understand it, the FP deal changes depending upon the expected crowd level that day. Sometimes you get FP for 3-4 rides and sometimes less, from what the CM told me. It is good for everyone in the party up to a certain number (6? 8?). I went for the gift card which is fantastic!! It isn't good for food other than what you can buy in the stores (so you can get stuff from the candy store, for instance, but not a restaurant). There are a couple of places that won't take the gift card because they are privately owned. The Silhouette shop is one, and the Crystal shop is another.

Other than birthday buttons, I don't know of any other freebies except one we chanced upon by accident. If you dine at Blue Bayou, they give you a free piece of birthday cake (I think it was cake--I didn't actually eat mine because I wanted creme brulee ). I'm not sure whether or not other restaurants do anything similar but I would guess the higher end places would (Napa Rose, Steakhouse 55, etc).

Thanks for the replies! I think she might just want to get the gift card. If I can convince her to go. She is planning on taking us to the Blue Bayou so, a free piece of cake would be nice for her!

I did not get any tangible things for my birthday except for the gift card, which was pretty fun. But if you're wearing your button, you'll get a whole lot of CMs--and the occasional friendly park guest--telling you "Happy birthday". That was kind of fun. :) I believe you can get some extra free tortillas in DCA but I don't know if that's enough to plan a trip to DL over.

I hope you convince her to go! :)

We just did my DH's birthday there. We have APs so didn't need to get in free, same as with park hoppers. We went to DL first thing on his birthday and went on rides while the park was still less crowded. Around 10am we left DL and went over to DCA. Just to the left when you come in is Guest Relations. We walked right up there with no wait and DH picked up his Birthday Fun Card worth $69. Make sure she has her drivers license or other form of government ID. It only took us a couple of minutes.

DH wore his Birthday pin all day- we had already picked it up on another day because we were already there. We even counted how many times people said Happy Birthday to him! It was 45. :rotfl: We had lunch at Cafe Orleans and they brought him a beignet with a candle in it with sause drizzled over it and whipcream with little mickey sprinkles.

At Steakhouse 55 we ate our anniversary dinner there and had our anniversary pins on and they brought us a chocolate mousse with Happy Anniversary written in chocolate on the plate. While we were there, they also brought the same thing for someone having a birthday.

Anyway, I think the $69 gift card makes it worth it. :thumbsup2

Free tortillas in DCA!!!! I love them! You get a whole pack instead of one on your birthday. While not the sales point of a gift card but pretty awesome :)

I highly recommend making a PS for BB. We tried to walk up a couple weeks ago and they were full.....

Happy bday to your Mom, I hope you have a GREAT time! :)
