Does anyone know of any forums that are not controlled that you can speak freely without being shut down.

I have never seen one, but you might want to try the Community Boards. Go explore the space.

AFAIK all the boards on the DIS are moderated. It is a moderated (and family friendly) forum. Presumably, whatever it is you want to discuss is something which is likely to get people riled or start a heated debate of some kind. Unfortunately, these types of threads rarely do anything than just aggravate people, which is why they invariably end up getting locked.

I wouldn't say that there is no free speech though - just that you need to comply with the DISboard rules

Freedom of speech is alive and well (As long as the Golden Rule is applied); dialogue for the sake of flaming and trolling serves no purpose other than to the original poster looking for personal self gratification. No one deserves "Carte Blanche" on a public forum. JMHO

Try the community board. Probably as close as you'll get. In fact it wouldn't surprise me if this thread gets moved there since this has nothing to do with DVC.

I know of few boards that are totally free for alls and I would prefer to avoid them, too much chaos. DIS in general is pretty fair with a few exceptions here and there. Do board agenda's creep in from time to time, I say yes at times, but about as minimal as one could expect on somthing like this. Overall I give them a thumbs up.

You can always start your own board. There are plenty of places where it's a free service. Then you invite friends or other people with the same interests to discuss whatever you want. And if anyone becomes a problem you just kick them off.

Thank goodness that there is some form of moderation on these boards. I started my Internet life with the Usenet newsgroups and in fact was one of the founders of the rec.travel.cruises newsgroup. Over time the newsgroup, which is free of any sort of moderation, contains a lot of bickering and flames from people who seem to have no aim in posting other than to start flame wars and attack other posters. I much prefer the web boards now where there is someone looking over the postings and deleting those that are off-topic or are attacking other posters. I have said many times that when I started rec.travel.cruises I wish I had made it a moderated newsgroup.
