Free Rooms at Disney???

Someone should know something's up when going to make ADRs and/or FP+ before the trip - unless the "handling everything" also means everyone's ADRs and FP+.

No ADRs, according to OP's last post. The host said they'd just all go back to the hotel for spaghetti.

Apparently, the host is a DVC member who has not been there for several years and is out of touch with changes. It's unclear what level of FP planning, if any, is happening. Earlier, OP was filling in the newbies on MDR and FP selection. There was another post asking how much help is appropriate in this situation.

OP is worried that the friends are putting too much trust in an unreliable host, and is trying to figure out how to help without overstepping. Unfortunately, since he hasn't spoken to the host personally, it's a little hard to tell how much the host is missing key elements, and how much the newbies are misinterpreting. Kind of a tricky situation to navigate.

At this point I would step away and not attempt to navigate at all. My neighbors "won" a trip to WDW. YAY! She knew that my family goes often and could offer assistance if she wanted anything, but she did not ask. Frankly, it was not the WDW part I would have been concerned with, it was the "winning" part of a contest I had not entered into that would have concerned me. They went on a wing and a prayer, never were able to get their free room, and could not afford what was available in the area once they arrived, and it went downhill from there. I think they recieved a one day ticket. They knew it was too good to be true but they wanted that vacation so badly they let themselves believe it was going to work out.

I think the OP's friends know this too and are just hoping for the best. Who really plans a trip that is so up in the air and agrees that they will "Just return to the villa for spaghetti" without even questioning it? I am not saying that eating in your room is a bad thing, but even that shoudl be somewhat planned when you have three families. The fact that it is not tells me nothing is planned.

If it were me I'd just step away. Not my clown, not my circus.

This. I’m also a big fan of staying in my lane. IF friends going ask me for advice, I will give it guardedly. But if they are just sharing that they are going and don’t ask for advice or suggestions, I don’t jump in with them.

Especially if they do start a discussion, I express some concerns and then they still are going along witht eh original plan, whatever that happens to be. At that point stepping in can be like jumping off of a cliff. You have nowhere to go but down fast.
