Free Resort Upgrade

Congratulations! We are staying (8 of us) at a 2 bedroom OKW villa for six nights on points and then moving to two rooms at POP for our last two nights (used all of our points and can't afford the $400 plus price tag per night). So, Disney, if you are reading this, need the POP rooms, we're more than willing to stay put - June 2nd and 3rd.....

We're stayin at Pop in a few weeks and I got the same "free upgrade" offer yesterday by email. We booked our reservations for an AP discount. When i called, they wanted me to pay an additional $166 in order to get the "free" upgrade, because I already had the AP discount. The email I got didn't say anything about any restrictions. I just opted to stay at Pop.

I know my nephew is doing his senior trip in april-- they are staying at the AS, maybe there are so many kids doing their trips at the same time- they need to use the POP for overflow????

We're DVC members and those one and two bedrooms are spoilers. You'll love it. Old Key West is very pretty and their one bedrooms are right at 1100 square feet. They also have a great new themed slide (sand castle).

You were one of the lucky ones that year that were upgraded due to the refurb of CBR. I stayed at the Poly in October 2002 and talked to two couples that got the same upgrade you did. In fact they were surprised by Disney at near the last moment, if I remember their story correctly. All I know is that I paid the full amount for our room at the Poly and was amazed at their good fortune and to tell the truth, a little jealous. Talk about an upgrade! Wow!

Maybe they are trying to clear the values up a bit so more people will book with the free dining? that way they upgrade the people that already had the ressies before the free dining came out?? don't know just a thought.

WOW!!!! You hit the jackpot.

I own at OKW and have also stayed at SSR. There is no comparison between the 1 bedroom at these resorts and a room at POP.

Only because she had a discount. My first two nights at POP were at the $75 per night price, so I had to pay the difference to $99 rack rate for those two nights, making my "free" upgrade cost $53. My second two nights at POP were at $99 since I had the dining plan with those nights, so I didn't have to pay anything for them. The CM said you can't get two discounts (discount hotel rate plus free upgrade). To me, it was worth it to pay $53 to go from POP hotel room to OKW villa - room size, kitchen, W/D, nicer pool, bedroom, and DH wants to ride the boat launch to the parks, LOL.

I know Grad Night is the weekend we are there - the nights of April 28 and April 29.

And no, I won't be buying DVC. I already have a timeshare in the Florida Keys I'm trying to sell, LOL. But I will miss POP - we've stayed there twice and have gotten used to everything there, KWIM?

No kidding. We booked a studio at SSR last year and they U/G us to a 1-BR villa. Needless to say, we are staying in a 2BR villa this year and probably every year from now on, and YES, we know we should probably buy into DVC since we will save money that way. And we will most likely be owners by this time next year.

That would be exactly what it is. Pop is probably running very close to full occupancy and they have vacancies at the OKW/SSR and want to show the DVC to someone not a member.

Hmm..I wonder why POP would be so busy April 30 - May 8th. We'll be there the 2 - 9th..and I hope it's not really crowded.
