Free QSDP/value hotel vs OOP QSDP/value hotel w/discount

I don't know if I'm "splitting hairs", so to speak but is it a better value to do the Free QSDP with no hotel discount, or getting a room discount and OOP QS. We are on the fence with this and don't know if the difference is much of anything. We have done the TS dining plan in the past and just want a trip where we don't have to make reservations and can just "wing it".

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Depends on how many are in your room and also if you'll need to buy park tix anyway. And how many days you stay.

We've used the QSDP twice now (total of 7 times on DDP) and really enjoyed not having to make ADRS. My DM thought this was great! I have a review of our QSDP from last fall, link in siggy if you are interested.

IMHO if you have 2 or more guest in your room and you are staying in a value-it's a better deal to pay full rate and get the free QSDP. The cost savings for the free QSDP will be more than any room discount rate you can get. But you do have to pay 2 day base tix. If you already have tix or have an AP than you will be paying for those 2 days bases to get the free DDP.

It's really all a numbers game. I'm in a similar situation. My DNephew is a CM at WDW and can get us a room for 50%, but not at a value. I would prefer to stay at a value (AoA) and get the free QSDP. My DM would like to stay in a moderate and get 50% off. I know that by having to buy the 2 day base tix it may cost us more to stay at the value to get the free DDP but those tix don't expire as long as we don't use them-we can use them on a later trip (what we do is take the 2 day and upgrade to 1 10 day with PH and Waterparks, with no expiration) I'm pretty sure we have enough tickets from the past years to not have to buy tickets this year.

But if I'm basically paying for a 2 day base to eat "free" than to me it makes sense. We plan on staying 10 days so if I divide the price of the 2 day tix by 9 (nights) it comes out to $20 a day ($180-9 nights). Being able to eat for $20/day per person is a pretty good deal and we still have the 2 day base ticket to use later.

Hope I've helped, it's really a personal choice based on many things.

Plus, I really like being able to get whatever we want to eat without worrying about the price.:goodvibes

Thanks! We are pretty sure we will go the route of free dining (QS) and fore-go the room discount. It will work out better, especially since it will be prepaid! This is a trip with just the 2 of us, first time without our DS (19) and we want a relaxing, smell the roses type of trip. We aren't ones to spend a lot of time at the resort, so planning the value for the first time (AoA).

The easiest way to find out is to run the numbers. Try dummy bookings online and see what the final prices come out to be. Choose the cheaper one.

Obviously PP's scenario becomes more complicated due to being an AP holder and having to pay for additional tickets that are not needed (but could potentially be used in the future) but if you'll have to buy tickets regardless then it really is as simple as running the number.
