My kids are saving up for a 'some day' trip to DW. I'm thinking that they aren't really big souvenir shoppers so I would rather not cash their savings out for Disney gift cards. There are too many of them and too few of me to keep track of cash. They don't really have that much saved up so I don't want to use a big chunk of it to buy a prepaid Visa. Does anyone know of any free prepaid Visas that are good? Or any other suggestions?

I agree if it’s only $25 just do a Disney gift card. Or just tell each of them they get one item they get to pick out and you charge it to your card so you get the points and just take the money from their account when you get home.

If it is a "someday" trip, a piggybank will likely work best. And cash might be the easiest for this purpose as long as it is not too large an amount. You could keep an envelope for each child with you if you don't feel they can be responsible for their own wallets. Then just hand out the envelope at the cash register for the child to pay. Really not much more space/effort than a gift card. You could also load small amounts onto a Disney gift card and use the website to transfer additional money from a different Disney gift card if a child wants to spend more. But that's a whole lotta tracking that seems too complicated to me.

My bank (just a small local one) is offering fee free gift cards during the holiday season. Try contacting your bank.

edit: Never mind didn’t see they already had savings accounts.

What would be the point of transferring it to a gift card or pre-paid visa? Just leave it in cash or in the bank.

Since you're talking about an unspecified "someday trip", I vote for keeping the money in the PiggyBank. Or maybe it's time to start savings accounts. Random thoughts:

- VISAs often "charge" a fee for every month or year the card isn't used, and the kids would be devastated to see their money disappear. It happened to me: I had a $20 VISA gift card that I let sit at the bottom of my purse, and it all dwindled away to nothing.
- The cheapest place I know to get a VISA card is my credit union. They charge $1 for a card regardless of the amount.

I’d keep it in their bank accounts. When you do go before the trip make a spreadsheet on your phone let them see what you are doing. I put each kid in a column and what they have to spend. Then i put their total and underneath. As they buy things I add what they spend. Then they can always see how much left they have. When we get home we go to the bank and they each transfer from their account how much they spent minus 5% since that’s the minimum I get dgc for. While there I just pay for everything with my dgc. I will add that I only have them use their money for things I wouldn’t buy them.

American Express has a card called 'Serve' It is a prepaid amx card, you can control the spending ,add money or take it away. One main account card and you can have many sub accounts ,I have 4 under my name. The fee is only $1 a month unless you add direct deposit or $400. Each person will have their own card with their names and separate account #. It's a nice little card and you can only spend the amount that you have in your own account.
it can be reloaded at cvs, walmart ,family dollar or direct deposit.
