Our APs expire on June 11. We are taking a trip June 6-11. We are not renewing the APs. The free PhotoPass download is supposed to be available for a year, but what about this situation with letting the AP expire on the last day of a trip in which I want to download one last time?

The year should be the year for your AP. Idk why or how the photopass year would be separate from your AP. After your AP expires, you should lose the ability to download the photos. You might see them, but it'll likely have the watermark and ask if you want to purchase. I could be wrong, but I don't see why the photopass option would extend pass the 1 year that your AP is.

But for your trip dates, your AP is good up until park close the night of June 11th. To not have to worry about it, you could download all the photos that night of the 11th

I updated my Jun 11 AP to the whatever-it's-now-called AP in November to allow for the free PhotoPass download. Not sure if that makes a difference for expiration.

I guess I'll have to lug a laptop along in case there are good photos I want to have.

Yea I'm not 100% sure on that. But I think it would expire when your pass does. I don't see how the system would recognize to keep the photo option open once the AP expires.

And why your laptop? You can download them all through your phone if you wanted to

I think we are going to have to wait and see what happens with the people that were the first ones to buy the new AP.
I did the same as you, i bought the old AP in August and upgraded in december to get the photos.
Another thing i read about as a potential issue is that the AP is good for a full year like august 23, 2015 thru closing on August 23, 2016 (not the 22nd) but i heard that the photos are not included on that very last day because it's already been valid for a year even though the AP is valid for a year and a day.

I have a platinum AP, and when I look at my photos, each has an expiration date one year from the date it was taken. The passholder newsletter book that I get mailed each quarter clearly said last time that my photos expire one year from the date they were taken.

There's a difference between the photo expiration and how long you're allowed to download the photos.

I've never downloaded them to my phone. I guess I was thinking it would be a lot of space.

That's what I was thinking. The photos are there for a year, free downloads for the duration of the AP, and I'm expecting the download option will not be there once the correct ticket media is no longer there.

Hmmmm. That's odd, but then I better do the downloading on June 10. Thanks for that heads up in case it's true.

I need to find people whose APs are expiring before mine, who are in the same situation of having upgraded, aren't renewing, and have them try to see if they can download photos for free the day of or after their AP expires. Sounds like a needle in a haystack, but if I can find them anywhere it would be here. I wish I could trust the answer I would get from a CM. Maybe I'll call a few times and see if I get the same answer multiple times.

I would've been in the same situation as you (APs purchased last June, expiring 6/10) and I was going to upgrade my AP when we were there in November to get PhotoPass downloads for November and this coming June. But I really wanted the photos more for this June than November and I was also worried about no longer getting free downloads once my AP expired. When I went to Guest Services to upgrade my AP, he could see that my AP was purchased from AAA South so I had received a discount on the AP (which I forgot about) and he was going to charge me more than I expected for the upgrade. I didn't want to get into the whole price-bridging thing since English wasn't his first language and I was in a rush at the time, so I just took it as a sign to just get Memory Maker for my June trip. Very curious to hear how it goes for you, though. I would be prepared to download them on your last day (via your phone or laptop).

I upgraded my old AP (that expired Dec 23, 2015) on Dec23, to a gold AP, it gave us access to that trip's photos, and we had a while after the trip to download the photos.

They don't seem to be showing up in the MDE app any more, I'm not sure if we just had 30 days after AP expiration or if our account got messed up (again)

I'd like the answer to this question, too. I was actually wondering about that today, then saw your post. Our Platinum AP's expire November 10th, the last day of our trip. I was wondering how I would download them, and if I would have to do it that last day. Hope we find out the answer!

THat person would be me.

I upgraded my AP in November, it expires on April 19th. I'll let you know what happens.

I'm looking forward to seeing this answer as well...want to make sure we have the right plans lined up...I can't imagine doing a download to my phone or even laptop while at a resort on wifi - it would take all night! We would have to line up a friend/family at home to do the deed for us I think!

I hasn't thought about this before, but add me to the list of people who will be following this for answers. We are going right before our APs expire in Sept. I would love to take a bit of time to edit the photos and such, but not at the expense of losing them.

My pass expired April 6th - I downloaded everything on that date just in case BUT my photos are still available now to download. I even had to call for a missing photo, had it added and downloaded it AFTER my AP expired. Even today just to double check, I was able to download a photo without any issues.

So what does this mean lol - as of now to me it appears that you have until the expiration on the photos. I would download them asap just to be safe, but my experience is they are still avail. I even have my most recent trip (Spring Break) on my phone in MDE.

ETA - I had upgraded my AP in Nov to the new one with the photos. I have all my pics from Oct on in my photopass account.
