Free parking with DVC card? Or no?

We are headed down to WDW in March and staying off property. Does anyone know if I can use my DVC member card for free parking at the parks, or do you have to be staying on property and have the parking permit for free entry? It's not a big deal, but I swear I remember reading when we joined in 2005 that it was a perk. Please correct me if I am wrong.

No.

You either need to be staying on site and have a Disney resort parking pass, or else have an annual pass. Otherwise, you pay for parking.

Free parking is not a DVC perk. Free parking is a perk of being a Disney resort guest.

But, if you have an AP, you can get free parking.

You might have heard that DVC members get free valet parking at the DVC resorts.

As mentioned, free theme park parking is not a DVC perk.
