Free parking when picking up Annual Pass?

I'm heading to Disney for a few days next week, and I'm thinking about buying a Universal 2-Park Preferred Annual Pass. I don't have time to have the pass mailed to my home. Would I have to pay to park if I choose to pick up the pass at one of the electronic ticketing machines since I won't have the pass in hand when I enter the parking structure?

Unfortunately, parking is not free until you actually have the pass in hand. You could...if you have time...enter after 6pm and parking is free for everyone. Other than that, you'll have to pay.

Disney will reimburse you if you bring your parking receipt. I forgot my AP at home and when I got it reissued -I was able to bring the Ap and receipt to guest relations.

That's true but Universal doesn't do this. It states clearly on the website...parking is not included on your first visit to the parks. It would be nice if Universal reimbursed you but I guess we can't ask for everything...right?

It does indeed say what Metro West mentioned. However, I'll tell you of an experience I had several years ago. A friend wanted Thing 1 and 2 shirts for his kids. I was between annual passes and didn't have any free parking privileges. I just wanted to run into the big store at CityWalk to buy the shirts. I mentioned this at the parking booth and asked if they had any sort of reimbursement if you were within a certain time limit. I found out that if I went to the guest services area between the moving sidewalks (forget what they refer to it as. I think that's where they give out wheelchairs and the kennel is), I could get a refund. I had no problem getting one.

No idea if they still do this. You could ask at the booth. Or, you could have someone drop you off at guest drop-off and drive around until you finished.

Technically, they are not allowed to do this.. but we have been between passes TWICE and were granted free parking both times.

I guess it depends on the time of day, the attendant, the amount of attendants, etc.

And I just asked at the ticket booth last month and was not so nicely told NO! I had my ap printout in my hand and was upgrading another pass and no go. I had to pay for parking.

My plan was for us to go after 6 to pick up our passes. We headed over about 7:30. There was an accident on I-4 and we were trapped for more than an hour. When we got to the ticket area, I paniced because it looked like all the windows were closed. My husband would have killed me. Fortunately, there was one still open and we got our passes in no time.

The kids did manage to talk us into going in for one ride. Having the passes start a couple of days earlier than planned won't be an issue as they'll be in school in 15 months when they expire.

If you're solo this won't work, but if you've got someone else in the car with you, they could pull into guest drop-off while you went to pick up the AP. There's no charge for that.
