For me, it was the offers when I was looking. Alaska Airlines had one that was hard to pass up when we pulled the trigger. We had that card strictly to get the miles and free companion offers. After going through the "I love Credit Cards" thread, we've switched our approach and use a card that strictly earns cash rewards now. That board has an insane amount of information and helpful posters.
