free nts @ dolphin!

Just booked 5 free nights @ the Dolphin Dec 27th thru Jan 1st using starwood pts. We usually stay @ th YC club....but who could pass up 5 free nights. How is that time of year? We have only been in June, July, and August. What should we not miss?

SPG or Starwood Preferred Guest points are points that you can accumulate when you stay at a Starwood hotel property. Starwood owns the Westin and Sheraton chains (which is what the Swan and Dolphin are) and a bunch of other chains.

If you decide to stay at one of these properties then you need to sign up as an SPG member for free at www.spg.com. It's a great program. You can also get an SPG Amex (in the USA) and the SPG MasterCard (in Canada). This helps you really rack up the SPG points. We are SPG gold members and now have the MasterCard and have accumulated along with our stays over 50,000 points. At the Swan and Dolphin a free night costs 10,000 SPG points. If you stay for 4 free nights then they give you a fifth night for free... so 40,000 points for 5 free nights.

One nice perk with the gold SPG is automatic upgrades to better rooms. This is happened to us on our last 2 stays at a Sheraton. We were automatically upgraded to their club floors. Really nice.

If you do not mind me asking, How did you book the New Year days for 2009?

When I went to do exactly the same as you, I was tokd that the points for 2009 are not out yet?

I don't think the OP stated 2009. I assumed they got the free nights for NYE 2008.

yes, i"m sorry I was able to book Dec. 27th thru the 31st and will have to add Jan 1st as it becomes available.
