Does anyone know if it has yet been decided if there will be a Free Dining/ Meal Plan for August of 2008?

We had a free meal plan for our last trip (August 06), and it made a big difference, and whether or not there will be a Free Dining Plan for our next trip will make a difference in what we will or will not be able to do.

It has already been offered for "bounceback" bookings for stays starting August 30.

If it is offered for the general public, chances are the available dates will not be before August 30.

I'm curious how this will work, when now you have to tip and do not get an appetizer. Do you think this will include the tip in the free plan? If they don't, I can see a lot of servers being stiffed.

The plan will, no doubt, be identical to the DDP being offered for purchase, meaning tips won't be included. Yes, servers likely will be stiffed big time, unless WDW does as they've done for some time when ordering extras and using the DDP -- charge a mandatory 18%. I think it will be a big surprise when those accustomed to really free dining find out that the $200 bill they ran up for free food now requires a $40 tip.

While August 06 the free ddp was available, in August 07 there were only a couple of days at the end of the month that it was available to the GP. Looks like only September is the main focus for free ddp now. Even the bounce back that was offered this September was only for bookings in September 2008 (a day or 2 at the end of August). I would love to see August included in 2008, but sadly am not expecting it.

I am a newbie to Disney Dining (but far from a newbie to Disney lol). I got really excited reading this though because I am having a Disney Wedding on September 1st of 2008 and will be there afterwards for that week until Sep.7th!!! Will this be the time of free Disney Dining? How do I find out for sure? Is there a deadline I will have to make ressies before this promo is over?

Sorry I'm so full of questions! Also, me and DF have seasonal passes (and will get annual passes with our wedding stuff) so will we just have to each buy one base ticket along with our room accomodations in order to be eligible for the disney dining? Will we later be able to take that one-day ticket and put that towards the cost of a new seasonal pass? Just out of curiousity too, how much does the DDP normally cost per day if they don't do it for free in Sep.

Thanks in advance!!! My stomach is growling right now just THINKING about all the great food!!! lol

I am hungry also but feel that the old plan was just too much waste. By the time our trip ended we were sick of eating. It is nice but the new plan may keep waste in check.

I do wonder about how much to tip? Do I still tip 15% for bad service? It was easy when it was included.

I am wondering that to 0myheck. ;)

I sure do hope they have the Free DDP in Sept.
I don't mind having to pay the gratuity if need be but it sure would keep our costs down if the Free DDP was offered. We could spend more $ in the parks :)
