Well, I'm coming to you "live" from the Boardwalk and as I logged in this morning, I had to pay my $9.95. <sigh>

Hopefully, tomorrow will be brighter.

More than the internet, I'm hoping that the weather clears. Thunderstorms are being forecast through the day and evening. It certainly looks like rain out there already.

Well, I guess we take what we get, eh?

I'm staying at OKW, and I'm still getting the $9.95 sign on fee for the internet.

I called the front desk and they know nothing about internet being free for members....and then I called Member Services...and they said Spring 2008....but, I also heard from someone else that Spring 2008 will be free wireless.....I don't know what to believe.

I do know, it's a pain to have to have this computer signed on, so that my son can get his XBox to work too :-(. And, I had to get a router for it to work... I hope when it's free, I won't have to connect with that Mickey page, so that it will all just work .

Hope you are having a great trip! Internet at BW was still 9.95 when we left on Friday. It was also so slowww! Not worth it...I was ready to try dial up!

Well, I'm on this morning, I did not get the connection screen like I did yesterday, but I signed on at noon yesterday, so my $9.95 should be good till Noon....so, I'm waiting to hear from someone else, if they got it for free or not......

First we are at the AKV and I have to say they've done it again -WOW! But staying on topic, there is not free internet yet. I called to front desk and they made a call and checked but no date was given to them yet. She said if I signed on I would be charged. Oh well. Will post if it happens while we are here.

We are at AKV right now, and I asked at the front desk yesterday about the free internet. They said they didn't know when it started and suggested that I call Member Services, which I never got around to.

I decided to go ahead and log on today (even if I had to pay), but when I went to accept the terms and conditions, my access was denied and I received some type of error code. I called the Internet Access Guest Support number, and the lady there helped me log on. I asked her about the free internet service for DVC members, and she said that she had received a memo that it was effective immediately. I guess we'll find out when we check out if we've been charged or not.

We checked out of the BWV this morning and the 9.95 was on our bill for use from 1/1 to 1/2/08. I didn't dispute the charge because I accepted the terms because I needed the access before heading home. I heard two others at the concierge desk asking about it and in both cases the concierge said that they hadn't heard about free internet for DVC guests.

No specific start date was provided at the meeting. I think the actual statement was that "Members would have free internet service beginning in 2008".

You can infer what you want from that - I hope it begins on January 1, 2008 - but that was not stated specifically at the meeting.

We should know soon if January 1 is the start date though!

As I said in another thread, I was at that meeting as well as around 600 other members. As Jim Lewis said that all DVC members would receive free internet service beginning in 2008, I believe that everyone applauding and everyone else in the room believed that he meant as of January 1, 2008. If he really meant that the free internet would begin sometime during the year, alot of people were deceived.

At HHI, there's been free wireless internet for at least a year, I think. I know there was free wireless at Thanksgiving. It wasn't in the rooms (at least not officially, unless you were lucky enough to be right near a "hot" spot), just Big Murgie's Den, Community Hall, and the Beach House.

According to Front Desk at AKV, (yesterday) CM checked with MS and Free internet does NOT start until Spring. No official date, just Spring 2008.
