Free Internet start date?

We are heading to SSR in less than two weeks for our first attempt at a half marathon and I'm wondering if anyone has heard if the new free internet perk is starting at the beginning of 2008. The official news out of the meetings last month just said that members would receive free internet at DVC resorts starting in 2008 - but no specific start date.....

As of January 1, 2008 the internet will be free for DVC Members staying at DVC Resorts on points.

This was announced on December 4 at the DVC Members Association Meeting. It was reported on by Webmaster Doc who attended in this thread

No specific start date was provided at the meeting. I think the actual statement was that "Members would have free internet service beginning in 2008".

You can infer what you want from that - I hope it begins on January 1, 2008 - but that was not stated specifically at the meeting.

We should know soon if January 1 is the start date though!

The thing that makes me wonder is there have been things announced in the member meeting that never came to be - like the coffee tables in the BWV studios (about 4 years ago).

Does it only apply if you're staying on points? We're out of points so we have 2 cash ressies at DVC resorts this year... I mean, we're still members but will we be penalized for running out of points? That's not very nice.

HH already has free wireless internet - except that it's only available to those near specific areas - Big Murgies Den and at the Beach House.

I think it applies to any DVC stay reserved thru MS - points or cash but if you reserve thru CRO then the free internet won't apply.

I just hope it's up by March. I can't wait for this. $10 was just too much for me to spend for more than on or two nights a trip--not so much because I couldn't afford it, but because it seemed like a waste to do it.
