What have you and your family found in the Orlando area that you were able to see/do for free? Share your ideas and experiences!

Just hanging out with our DD in the pool and having fun are the best things to do for free in Orlando.

One of the best nights out in the area (we think) is the Saturday Night Cruise at Old Town.

For anyone who hasn't been, it's basically where lots of classic American cars cruise down the "strip" nose to tail and most of them are in amazing condition! If you're really into cars, you can wander round them before the cruise and have a chat to the owners - they usually love talking about their pride and joy.

Even if you don't like cars, the atmosphere in Old Town on a Saturday night is fantastic - especially if you sit in the open bar (I can't remember it's name) watching the world go by (and people being silly on the bucking bronco opposite!!!).

A great night out.

This is a wonderful setting on the banks of Lake Toho. It is HISTORIC DOWNTOWN KISSIMMEE and is located right off the 192 as you head to St Cloud, at the Hisoric Downtown Kissimmee arch. There is a place to buy icecream You can also walk along the waterfront.

You could take a picnic, there may be a vollyball match to watch.

For the children there is an adventure style park, with rope bridges and a rip line. For the very young there are swings etc.

$1 - Kelly Park/Rock Springs

As its name suggests, Rock Springs bubbles up from a cleft in a rock outcropping and, instead of spreading out into a pool, becomes a swiftly running stream that quickly slows to a meander. The activity of choice here, and the major reason for the park’s obvious popularity, is riding down the stream in an inner tube or on a float. Kids, and not a few grown-ups, jump into the headwaters by the dozens and bob and splash their way downstream for about a mile. The trip takes about 25 minutes at a leisurely float. There are exits from the river along the way and an excellently maintained network of boardwalks (with flooring designed to protect the barefooted) let you carry your tube back to the beginning for another go.
A great few hours for free.

The best free thing I did in Orlando was getting up every morning eating my free hot breakfast, and then returning in the evening and hitting that free 2hour happy hour every night. I really slept good on that trip.

I love to going to outlet malls, and flea markets just walking around to see what they have. You can window shop for free.

We visited the Orlando Science Center for free because we are members at our local Science Center. We just showed our member's card and had no problem. It's a beautiful center and we spent the entire day.

The Science Center is great...how cool that you got in for free....If you have the time, and transportation, I like to go to Park Avenue in Winter Park...it's a long street of shops and cafes, a mix of locally owned places and chains (the Gap, Pottery Barn, etc)...it's fun to walk and browse...especially when the weather is nice.

and for a different shopping experience, the Vi-Mi District is pretty cool too...it's at the intersection of Colonial Drive and Mills Avenue in downtown Orlando...this is home to most of the area's Asian-owned businesses...so there are a lot of shops and grocery stores filled with exotic items...it's fun for browsing...plus, there are some excellent Vietnamese restaurants there too...while it's not quite Chinatown in NYC, it's definately a slightly different Florida experience.

while you're up that way, check out the antique row along Lake Ivanhoe...there are a bunch of antique shops and art-sy stores on North Orange Avenue (north of downtown) along the lake...plus, there are some good restaurants here too.

all of these places would have to be visited during the day, cause i don't think they're open at night...and keep in mind, that traffic in the downtown area can be a nightmare during rush hours.
