Free iced water?

Just seen on another thread that you can get free cups of iced water at Counter Service restaurants (is that one like Electric Umbrella at Epcot?). I've asked for a cup of ice but can you get iced water too?

Yup. My fiance and I do it all the time. Just ask for a cup of water anywhere on property (assuming they have a fountain service) and its free

Boy, this was THE BEST tip we got before our trip with the grandkids last June!! Worked like a charm, and the same friendly service from CM's too.

I just got back and this was a blessing!!I dont understand why people wheere buying bottles of dasani (which is just filtered water) when you can get filtered ice water for free!!! Here's a note though, I asked for ice water in mexico and the woman looked at me like I had five heads till I said a cup of ice water. One the registers it says cup of water, so ask for a cup of ice water instead of just ice water, less confusing for them I guess?!

Some CS locations - I think Columbia Harbor House at MK was one of them - would only give you a cup of ice and they had you fill it yourself. They had water dispensers near at the counter where they had the condiments. I don't know if this was filtered water but it tasted better than from the water fountains.

YES. We do it all the time.

We take cold brew tea packs , single serve powdered koolaid , or crystal lite .

We like the variety and the water is better tasting with flavoring.

I will be bringing my own bottled water into the parks, but I am planning to get a cup of ice when I have CS. Do I ask the person taking my order for the ice or do I wait until I get up to the counter where I receive my food?

Last September, the Cm at The McDonals's Fry cart at MK gave us LARGE cups of COLD ICE water but the little cart in front of Mission Space would only give us little cups of ice water, Like 8 oz cups.

We just got back and YES they will give you free ice water at counter services. I did it a couple of times and it saved having to buy bottles water all the time or using up the water I brought from home!! Great tip I learned on disboards.

my DD laughs at how much time I spend here on the DISboards...but I just saved us some more money with this tip. I would never have even crossed my mind to ask for free ice water in WDW.

You can just get water and not buy anything.

I used this tip several times this trip (last week) since my stomach was upset and I didnt feel like drinking soda. It was great! My DH was amazed! "You can do that?"

LOL this makes me think of when I was in Goofy's candy shop in MK, my friend asked the cm who just checked us out where the closest foutain was (we had water bottles and just refilled them that way). The CM was a young guy who blushed and offered to get us some cold water instead of us getting the warm foutain water, we asked if it was ok. He said sure no problem, with that he disappeared and came back with our bottles refilled. I thought it was very nice, because he could have just been like most people and sent us on our way (which we wouldn't have minded either).

It's definately the best way to go. I did it all the time when we went last January. Why waste your money on bottled water (that is probably no better than the fountain). There is no standard size...in Kringla bakery i got a super massive cup, other times I got a dinky dixie cup. But it was all free....beware though. Lots of free water = frequent potty breaks.

As PP said, you can just get ice water, but try the counter before waiting in line. I waited for some at CHH for my family while we were waiting for Spectro and the very sympathetic CM at the register felt badly that I waited in the long line and told me just to ask at the counter. Not sure if this is true everywhere or not, but if the line is long at the register be sure to try the counter first.
