Thought I would let everyone know -

It was announced today that Google has come to an agreement with GoGo Inflight Internet to supply FREE GoGo Inflight Internet on all DOMESTIC Delta, Virgin, and AirTran flights. I know Virgin is a trans-atlantic carrier, and I'm not sure how many domestic flights they have.

This is effective from Nov. 20 through midnight on Jan. 2, 2011. :surfweb:

Great news! I have a Delta flight from Atlanta to Orange Co at the beginning of December! That will help pass the time!

EXCELLENT!!! I'm a pushover on their $9.95 plan. The time flies when you fly with Internet.

The agreement is for Virgin America, the US based version of Virgin Atlantic.

The news made me quite happy - I'm not a good flyer, and the internet usually helps, as I can text and email my family and friends, as well as play a little WoW (depending on the speed!)....It helps me tremendously..although I'm not sure how much I'll do, since our flights are an hour and a half each...

On another note, is it still the case that you have to have an open lap for the last hour of the flight? If so, can you at least have a book or wi-fi enabled cell phone?

I'm not embarrassed to admit that I'm techno challanged - does this mean that my Ipod touch will work on my flight? Do you have to download any special program?

Once above 10,000 feet and you're allowed to use electronic devices, just turn on your iPod Touch, search for networks and follow the prompts. Not all that different from connecting to your network at home.

Will I be able to check my email like I do at home or is there some special procedure when you aren't on your home network?

That requirement lasted for about 48 hours over the Christmas 2009 holiday, until the adults came back to the office and realized that it was absurd, even by TSA standards.

Yes. Use your browser just like you would noramlly on iTouch (Safari). You will be able to do everything you would on any other wifi network.

Ok, good - last time we flew was a year ago next week (on our last trip to the World, ironically). So I'm not too sure about everything that's going on these days.

That makes me feel better - at least I can keep myself occupied, and my DH won't be as annoyed by me...Once I'm occupied and my attention is diverted, I'm better off :)

I never tried to get my email through Safari - I have always used the email button. I will have to try that today. I've only had my Tough for about 2 weeks and haven't gotten much of a chance to play with the wi fi features. Thanks!

You can still use your email button. Your phone will work the same. Your connection will be wi-fi thru ggiflight. It will be seamless once you get logged on.:goodvibes

One thing about Airtran and using a laptop is the space between the seat in front of you and the room you have for the tray table isnt much especially if you have a larger laptop. I have a 17" and had a hard time opening the top of it. Of course it may be partly because I am not 100 lbs but there really isnt much room

Figures the airlines I fly (United and US Airways) are not participating :headache:

I've got a 15" and feel the same way about Delta, but if it's something to distract me, I'm all about it, even if it is a bit uncomfy. I'm not 100lbs either, so I understand :)
