If we are staying at the Poly on points on our next trip, will the WiFi still be charged to my room if we use it? I know as DVC members we get that for free now, but I'm not sure if we are staying at a Disney Collection hotel if we will still get it for free, help!! :confused3

DVC members don't get free Wifi. We get free wired internet when we stay on DVC reservations at DVC resorts.

So you won't get free internet at the Polynesian. But if another guest sets up a router in their room and you can piggy back on it, you'd get it then.

No, the internet is only free when staying at a DVC resort on a booking through MS.

I don't get how Disney still has the nerve to charge for Internet access and so many resorts still don't have wireless.

It's not a matter of 'nerve', it's capitalism. Businesses want to make money.

Actually, most higher-end hotels charge a lot more than Disney. $9.95 is cheap, I usually see $16.95 - $19.95 per night.

It's the cheaper places that cater to business travelers that offer free internet, because they need the competitive advantage. Disney doesn't. No one decides they're going to stay at the Red Roof Inn instead of a Disney resort just because they can get free internet at the motel, so Disney has no business need to offer free internet.

Very true, when I travel for business or personal I almost always am hit with a $15 - $20 fee. Hotels like Loews, Intercontinental, Star Hotels, etc all charge a daily fee.

Don't worry, you're paying for it either way. Chances are when they started offering "free" internet services at the mid-range hotels that offer it, they simply raised their room rates a few dollars per day and hid the fees. ;)

And we pay in our DVC dues for the free wired internet at DVC resorts.
