My DD will be going on our first DW trip in Nov. 2015. I was hoping for free dining, but have made a reservation for AoA, the Little Mermaid room which it seems, is excluded. Does anyone have any advice? I really want to stay there. We've signed up for the Standard plan Thanks!

yes generally the little mermaid standard rooms are excluded from most discounts.

if you want to stay at AOA mainly due to the theme and are unwilling to stay in one of the suites then i suggest staying at pop century.
you can walk across generation gap bridge and walk around AOA to look at the amazing details.

Unfortunately, with a Little Mermaid room, you likely wont get a discount at all. If you are open to changing and aren't going over Thanksgiving you are very likely able to get a discount at another one of the resorts. LM rooms are really popular right now, even though they are a long walk from the food court or buses.

Also, I encourage you to look carefully at your eating habits and the dining plan. Oftentimes, the dining plan is not really a savings(if you are paying for the plan) because many people don't eat in the same way the plan is set up. The dining plan used to be a much better value than it is today.

My advice would be to choose a different resort option if FD is that important to you. The LM rooms fill up fast and it is unlikely they will ever be included while that is the case. As a PP poster stated, if you need to have FD and want to see the theming and require a value resort, book at POP and walk over to visit.

There are usually a select few that are hard to find deals for. POFQ is another one that typically is excluded or if included sells out in the first few days of the sale.

The last option would be to book a suite at AoA. More $$, but if FD and that specific resort are the most important part of your trip then that would satisfy the criteria.

November was a profitable month with high occupancy levels for the resorts. I think the dates for this year might be very limited this year. I would never book expecting a certain discount. AOA LM will definitely be excluded. I would be flexible and fast on the trigger when/if FD is offered. Flexible with resort and dates.
