Free Dining..

The price I got from the Disney website is 'free dining'.

ASMu prefered room 8 nights X $97 + 12.5% = $873
1 day adult park tickets $80 X 3 = $240
Grand total $1113
That is pricing it myself. I looked up the price of the room at that time and I know that the tickets are approx $80 each.

The price the website gave me was $1119.89. If they are charging me $6.89 for dining I still consider that free. In particular when the full cost would be almost $960.

Thanks for posting that :)

No problem, I already had the info....in prep of my trip this year.

We had done FD before and knew that we were only paying the cost of the room and the park tickets. I'm very puzzled as to some of the inflated prices that others are posting. Including the price that I was quoted from CAA. I think I may call the agent at CAA and question the price because I would really like to get the diamond card. Last year between the 4 of us we spent about $350 at World of Disney. So even though that 10% would only get me $35 it's better in my pocket than in Disneys'.

We are staying at the Pop Century 8 nights. 2 adults, one 11 year old with 3 park Hoppers. Our total went from $2180 to $1540

I think the Free Dining Promotion is an EXCELLENT value for OUR family but I also think that this particular promotion depends on where you stay & the dynamics of your family.

--We will be at POP (Value Resort) from Sept 25 to Oct 6 (11 nights)
--We are a family of four "adults"....my kids are teens
--We have ten day park tickets on our package

Cost with Basic Dining would have been $3897 but because we got Free Dining, we saved $1760 & paid only $2137, almost 1/2 the original price. This means that for my family, this trip to DW (not counting transportation) will cost us less than $50 per person per day for all our food, accomodations & entertainment! That for us is excellent value!

Wouldn't the value also depend on whether a family of 4 consists of 4 "adults" or 2 adults and 2 children?

There is such a huge difference in dining plan prices between a 9 year old and a 1O year old!!

I agree...for us we have the 40% pin code but because my 2 kids are considered adults the free dining is better. With the pin we would be saving $60/night (at CSR) but we will spend more than that each day on meals. We are splitting our stay so after 5 nights at a mod on the free dining we are staying at GF with the 40% for 3 more nights and will pay for our meals those days.

I also think it is relative to each individual family...we are 6 people-4 of them Disney adults, at ASmu suite for 14 nights and our total dropped $2000...that's a lot of money, gotta love free dining.

I wish I could get my head around it as being the great deal everyone seems to think it is?

I booked 2 pkgs for Aug 17-24- sometime ago.Two triple rooms-3 adults each room-Caribbean Beach Resort..added 8 days of Parkhoppers/with Waterparks. Added Basic dining...not dlx.

Price was $2337 per room/USD
I just priced it with free dining..$2352.75??

What am I missing?:confused3

I am not sure what is happening with your tickets but our free dining worked out to save us almost $1000 for a family of three.

And our free dining code saved our family of 4 ....$1,720.00 for our 11 night package at AKL. A HUGE savings for us :thumbsup2 :goodvibes

You have to compare apples to apples. Don't get the impression that Disney has jacked up the prices just because your deal hasn't changed. As others have said your original deal could not have been for rack rates.

We booked our package with bounceback Free Dining last August and the rates have stayed exactly the same since then (believe me I checked).

Free Dining is a great deal. Does it beat a 40% discount. Not if you are staying at a deluxe resort. But then, 40% discounts are rare.

We are staying at All Stars Sports for 14 nights, Sept 12-26. My kids are 14 and 10 so they are "adults" for the tickets. We have 10 day park hopper with water parks and more option, and of course free dining. We booked through Westjet Vacations and including flight and trip cancellation/interruption insurance out grand total is $6299.56. I thought that was excellent!!

Two years ago we paid almost $5300 for the same, however the increase in cost of tickets as well as rooms , and the fact that my son in now an "adult" I figured it would cost more.

Free dining is a great deal for us also. We are my husband and I and our 15 year old (who never stops eating!) The dining plan would cost us $120. per day as my son is an "adult". We are staying at WL in standard room at rack rate in the package of $240. a night. This essentially brings our room rate down to $120 a night which makes a deluxe very affordable for us. That's almost like 50% discount! :yay:

I priced my package with paying for dining or taking the free dining and I saved $689.52 so I feel I got a great deal!

We are booked at Pop for 14 nights. DW, DS 16, DS 14 and myself. Dining would have been about $160 per day x 14 days. Great deal for us.

I'm going Sept 19-27 with a party of 4 adults. We've booked 2 standard view rooms at ASMu, and only 1 day park tickets as we have tickets remaining from previously. With the Free Dining, our total bill for 4 adults (not including airfare) came to 1806.68$. Rack rate is 82$ per night per room.

If we had to pay for dining, the cost would have been 3086.36$.

That means, as a group of four, we've saved 1279.68$! For us, it's a FANTASTIC deal!

Family of three here saying - it is a great deal for us!!

Last year I booked the trip before even knowing about free dining or the DIS, and then added the free dining when it beacame available. We saved $945!!

This year we booked bouceback, so we have free dining again!!

We cannot wait to go as we know this will be our last trip to the world for a few years (want to try some other places Hawaii, Mexico, etc).

I have noticed, however, that with the change in the dollar over the last year (it was Par when we went last September) that our overall trip is going to be much more even though it is for the same amount of days and we are not doing Universal and Sea World like we did last time.

I LOVE free dining!!!

it is about saving money of course, but it's the convenience that I love the most.
I know that I and my children (who are considered adults on the plan now) can order whatever our hearts desire from the menu. We can have milkshakes, we can have the decadent dessert! Or splurge on the super snack! And I don't have to pinch pennies or worry that I've budgeted enough per person per day. There are no surprises at the end of the day and I'm not saying " you have to have the small" or "just water, no fancy beverage" because it's all taken care of. And that's what vacations should be about! :rotfl:

I bring enough cash for a tip to the park and that's it! Free dining is what made the trip affordable but moreso, worry free for my family.
