Free Dining???

We were at SSR and it was not "promo'd", however we were made aware by the awesome :goodvibes Disboards and eventually were able to bounceback!

It started 8/26 in 2007! The parks were packed through Labor Day, however, the week after Labor Day rocked! :thumbsup2 There was very minimal, if any, wait for rides during day hours (did perk up at night). My DH & DS won "Dream Fastpasses" coming off of Splash Mountain on that Firday morning and never even used them! :)

Free dining is a wonderful deal! :goodvibes Yes, do watch for it... you will get a "heads up" if it is offered!

I was under the impression that I need only book a room for the free dining experience (if it's offered). We are AP holders, so we don't need to purchase tickets. Are we not eligible for the free dining?

Also, If I was to book a room now, and the free dining is announced in April, can I call & have that applied to my room...or do they cancel my previous ressie and try to rebook (but I risk loosing a room)? Is it so busy that the resorts sell out?

Sorry, I'm a newbie to the whole dining plan thing. We are DVC and used it for 3 days in November (and loved it). We're planning on going back to WDW the last week in August, and if we can get the free dining plan, then we will gladly rent a room instead of using DVC.

Thanks for any info! I plan on visiting the 2008 dining plan thread too. :goodvibes

It is my understanding that you must buy at least a 1 day ticket in order to get the dining plan. And yes rooms do sell out as they only have so many for the free dining. And yes I beleive they would cancel your other reservation and make a whole new one for free dining.

I read somewhere that the free dining had already been offered to UK guests is this true? I it is I tried to book hotel room and tickets on disneyworld.co.uk but it didnt offer me free dining just the regular dining plan for whatever much it costs~?? Would this mean that its already "sold out" to UK guests any ideas?? Thanks :-)

I think you have to call. I have never seen it offered online, unless I wasn't looking at the right place. But I would call and ask about it.

Yes, if you don't see a flyer, watch the Disney TV info station for a few minutes, especially when it gets to the resort section. It will tell you if there is a current promotion.

For the free dining. The promotion is often open early April for bookings for the end of August and most of September. It is for a package booking only. A $200 deposit is required for each room booked. Everyone on the reservation must have the same type of ticket (we often get a one day, then save of apply it to a larger ticket if needed). You must book a minimum of 3 days. If is usually available at most resorts, though they are limited to each resort and some resorts do sell out and will not be available for all dates. If you do a split stay you are required to buy 2 packages which means two deposits of $200 and a ticket for the second room too. Split stays are not a good value during free dining because of the ticket issue, however, a split stay were you are NOT on the free dining prior to or after, even a room only, is always an option, especially if you arrive before the promotion begins.
