Free Dining with cast member discount?

Not sure if this is the right forum to ask...so if it belongs elsewhere feel free to move. Can you receive the Free Dining promotion while using a cast members friends and family discount on the room? We have booked our room only at this point for the end of Aug. We will be purchasing tickets soon so we will have a package. Otherwise we will be paying oop for meals. Thanks for any imput!

You have to pay rack rate for the room and you aren't allowed to combine discounts.


I don't know the discount you will get on the room, but I would check to see what the savings are per night. Then figure out if you could eat for that amount (doesn't have to be DDP). I know that I wouldn't buy the DDP, but I do enjoy getting it during Free Dining.

It may make more sense to drop the Cast Member discount if the savings aren't very much. For example most people stay in a value or moderate resort for free dining as the savings are good. For a deluxe you are better off getting a room discount for most families.

There might be some special discounts on the dining plan for cast members - they're offered at different times - but you can't get the free dining promotion with a discounted room.

Not sure that a ticket purchase will result in a package for this type of discount. You might have a room only plus separate tickets (even if you buy the tickets from Disney) which isn't a package. You will have to ask Disney what your options are for getting the dining plan with this type of room reservation, or have the cast member do it.

I guess as a CM you can get into the parks free that is what I heard but not sure if it is true, and there is a room discount as you mentioned, do you have any discount on restaurant meals. You may along with loosing the room discount have to buy a one day pass to get the free DDP you would have to figure that into your calculations on which would be the best way to go.

As mentioned, what you will have is a room only res and tickets. But not a WDTC package. (Room and tickets bought separate do not turn into a package.)
Even a CM wanting a free dining package would have to book the package the same as anyone.
