Free Dining vs. Stay/Play/Dine

Can someone clarify something for me please.

When Free Dining was offered in the past I thought it was offered on ALL rooms provided the hotel is one of Disney's hotels..irregardless of where you stayed or if the resort was completely sold out or not. Was this not the case??

Now on the other hand Stay/Play/Dine offer seems to only be available for resorts with room availability and on top of that it seems to be the same exact discount (or close to it)/with the same exclusions that the "room only discount" has.

Or am I missing something??

No, when free dining was offered it was not offered on all room categories/types etc. HOWEVER, free dining availability - generally speaking - was better than you're likely seeing on the SPD offer.

We'll know more tomorrow.. but free dining was definitely limited in terms of room categories, dates etc.. just like this promo.

May I also ask, does anyone know if there is a minimum stay required usually with the s/p/d offer? We already have our package booked for dates 1/2-1/6 and wondering if we will be elligible?

I believe it's 3 nights .. so I'd say you're good.

Disney's booking site is down so can't check but at a glance it doesn't seem like a decent discount at all. Way above the cost of last years free dining packages.

With free dining only the day of check in had to be in the FD window. Is this true with this new S/P/D package?

No, only the days within the offered period are included. It's the same as a room only discount.

There are still free dining pins floating around, but they may very well be replacing the public free dining offers with the new one.

It will all depend on how well this new offer fills rooms.

Hope not! It's not enough savings for us to be able to go to WDW as we have for several years.

I'm hoping free dining makes a come back and I agree this deal is not the best, but I'll take a discount where I can get it.

Thank you!! I never stayed with a promo before so this is all new to me and lucky me (sarcasm inserted) our view/room is completely sold out for the week we're staying so there's no discount on anything. =(
