Free dining/Split stay question

Looking for some help from my budget pals. Thanks in advance!

We are planning a trip for late Jan/early February 2013.

Here is my question. We have a voucher for 4 free days. It can not be used with any packages...it's just the room. However, I'm not dragging my kids to Florida for 4 days (we all HATE the actual traveling). We would like to stay 8 days. I thought we could just purchase tickets for 7 days through Undercover Tourist or YES (if it's available). Pay food OOP for the part with the free room... then get a different room and the free meal plan for the other half. Can this be done? Am I way off? Thanks!

You have to buy tickets as part of the package to get free dining. But I would think you could do that part first (pay for 4 days of hotel, but 7 day tickets, and get free dining). Then use your voucher for the next 4 days, don't buy tickets, and pay OOP for food.

Not sure if Disney can somehow link the reservations, so you don't actually have to vacate your room and check out and back in.

Thanks for your help. I thought it would be that simple but then I started to second guess myself thinking that I would need to get tickets a second time to cover the second portion.

I will need to change rooms anyway...the voucher is for CL and I don't want to/shouldn't put that kind of money out.

Has Free dining been announced for Jan/Feb 2013? We are going the end of Sept 2012 and were planning on going with the other half of the family in Jan/Feb 2013---free dining would be a bonus.

You'll only need to buy tickets twice if you do the Free Dining part second. (that's assuming free dining is offered)
