Free Dining Question

We are booked at Pop Century with free dining (upgraded to regular dining plan from quick service) in December. Can you change your resort after the deadline for free dining passes (this Friday, August 8th) and still get the free dining? We would like to upgrade to AKL or WL but are not sure that we will be able to financially yet. We'll know more next month. Anyone have experience with this?

I asked this question of a CM last week because I'm currently booked at Pop because there is no moderate availability for my dates. She said that if someone cancels after the offer expires, the room will go back to the general pool and not be blocked off for the free dining promo anymore. It's a bummer

That stinks because both AKL and WL have availability for free dining now, but I really won't know if we can upgrade until mid September. It would be worse to upgrade and not be able to afford it and lose our free dining all together. Oh well, we do love Pop, but were hoping to try out a deluxe if we could.

We were hoping to change dates to the week before our current reservations and upgrade to moderate but the only thing coming up on the website for that week is packages that are like 11,000???? Nope! Not happening!!! Well, I will keep stalking the website for the next 3 days! Good Luck with yours!!

You CAN change resorts and keep FD after the booking date is expired. They'll still check the resorts against the FD inventory, so choices will be limited.

So if I understand what you're saying, If AKL and WL have availability for free dining during our December trip right now, they may still have availability in mid-September and I could upgrade and keep the free dining if that's the case? That would be great! If we can afford that.

Yes. You will most likely have to speak to someone in guest services as regular CRO CMs don't usually have access to expired promos, but it can be done if the resort is still available under the FD promo .

Couldn't you book the more expensive resort now, without canceling your Pop reservation and then cancel the appropriate one by the 45 day mark? It would cost you the $200 deposit, but that's refundable if you cancel prior to 45days. . . Of course, if your finances may not be known until very close to trip date, that strategy wouldn't work.
