Free dining question

OK, after 10 years of waiting I have finally got DH to agree to go back to WDW next year We will probably go in August 2009 because of the school holidays here in the UK and I keep reading about this free dining plan. Can anyone tell me if it is likely to be during August? I am trying to work out the most economical way to travel whilst staying onsite, and if I book a package for Aug 2009 they want £26 ($50) per person per day for the basic dining plan and about £43 ($80) for the deluxe one, so it might be better to book flights and hotel with dining plan seperately?

I assume you ARE in the UK. It's best to check the official Disney site in autumn. Last year there was an offer made on the UK site only for Free Dining. I was able to book a resort package (you need a package = Disney hotel room + ticket to add on the DDP) with FREE dining in September of last year for our upcoming trip in August.
There is always the chance they offer it in the US as well, but you would have to wait until early April IF they offer it at all.
Check out which DDP would be all right for you - if you have not been in 10 years than I guess the deluxe one takes a lot of time out of your park touring time!
We use the regular DDP and we have trouble spending all our credits!

Thanks. Yes I am in the UK. That is a good idea - I will wait until September (which is when the Aug 09 flights will be available too) and see if the UK site offers the free dining plan!

Hi

Check out the UK Trip planning board as if UK free dining is announced it will be posted there! There are a few of us waiting to see if it is released before booking. It was announced late August for travel late August and September this year to give you an idea of dates.

Last year is was offered through Disney UK direct and package companies such as Virgin Holidays.

Free dining was offered to UK residents this year for bookings between August 10 and September 27.
