Hi,

Planning a trip to DW this fall and I have 2 quick questions:

1. If we arrive on a date that free dining ends, and we are there for 9 days, would we get free dining (i.e. we go 11/1-11/9 and free dining ends 11/1)?
2. My kids will be 10 when we go to Disney. Do they have to order off the adult menu? They are not big eaters so I hope not!

Thanks!!!

1 Yes.

2. They would have to purchase the adult dining plan. At most a la carte restaurants they would probably be allowed to eat from the children's menu. Whether or not you want to spend an adult credit for a kids' meal is up to you. You can pay cash for the kids meals and save the adult credits for extra meals, or you can ask if the restaurant will give you an adult portion of a child's meal. If you're getting free dining, you're not paying for the plan anyway, so you can use the credits as you see fit without losing actual value.

I've seen some reports that the Plaza and Hacienda de San Angel (only one report) would not allow anyone 10 or older to order from the kids menu.

Yes, if you arrive on the last day that a Free Dining discount is offered, you can apply that discount to your entire stay up to 14 nights.

Here is a helpful link I have bookmarked here on the Disboards that has Free Dining information and past free dining dates and release dates:

No, they don't have to order off of the adult menu, they can order off of either menu. We have 5 kids, 3 of which are priced out as adults at Disney and 2 of them still order off the kids menu half of the time.

I don't know if those reports were for people on the dining plan, but we always use the regular dining plan, and I know that at least 2 of my kids, who were 10 or over at the time, have ordered off the children's menu at The Plaza and San Angel restaurants.

my kids very small and like yours are also not big eaters

I'd caution you that the portion sizes for kids meals - both at TS and CS places - are VERY small. We found that when they were 9 our kids were generally not satisfied by the kids meals and ended up taking some of our adult meals. Also consider that the kids are burning a considerable amount of calories in a day walking around the park, so they may eat more than they usually would.
