My family is considering going to Disney in September 2008. Our son will be 2 1/2 by September and we're wondering if he qualifies for the free dining plan or if that's only for 3+. Does anyone know? If he doesn't qualify, will Disney just allow DH and I to order a meal at a restaurant and then share our food with him?

If you get him a ticket to the park he qualifies....it would be cheaper to skip the plan for him.

Children under 3 may share off your plate anywhere. As mentioned, in order to qualify him for the dining plan you would have to buy him a park ticket.

If you order food for him, and he is not on his own dining plan, you'd probably need to pay for it though.

I guess that leads me to my next question - seen as he's under 3, we don't technically need to buy park tickets for him, right?

He's a light eater so he'd really be fine with just eating off our plates. Sounds like that's our best (and cheapest) option.

Thanks!

Do the plan and do as many buffets as you can. He then eats for free off the buffets. That is our plan with our youngest.

We have a lil one who is a big eater and did not buy a ticket/plan when were there in January. We had plenty of food between DH, older DS, and me to share with him. Once in a while we'd buy an appetizer to share to have a little extra.
