Help! We can't keep up with all this food! Never having gotten the dining plan before (except for when our in-laws paid for it about 20 years ago), we knew that the amount of food would be a challenge (since we're not the biggest of eaters - except for our teenager!)
Anyway, we got up still stuffed from the Rose and Crown last night finishing up at 9:30 p.m. Nobody wanted breakfast this morning so we decided to wing it. Got into the Magic Kingdom just after 9:00 a.m. Got slightly hungry for a snack so went to Mrs. Potts at about 11:00 and had a strawberry shortcake sundae and root beer float (used up another 2 snack credits). DH didn't want a snack but ended up getting a Columbia Harbour House lunch soon after using up a counter service credit. We now have 4 snack credits left total. The Columbia Harbor house wasn't too busy but this was early. We left MK and went into Downtown Disney where DS decided he could use a lunch so we went to Earl Of Sandwich. You are allowed to get a sandwich, fountain drink and a choice of cupcake, cookie or brownie. No side items included. I was slightly hungry but didn't want to use up a lunch so I (gasp) paid for potato salad which was about $1.35. The machine was down for using the credits and they wrote things down by hand - we actually hope it shows up as using a credit! We have 5 counter services left.
Dinner was the Spirit of Aloha dinner show. It was fine, but slightly hot. We got there early and posed for the picture not knowing that when they presented the pictures to you, they also asked for payment of $26! We chose not to get them. Also, there was a funny thing about the drinks - the server came up after dessert and said that there was 45 minutes more to the show, but this was last call for drinks including soda, water, etc. The traditional (hula) dancing was wonderful and the fire dancer was great. The entire show and dinner was about 2 hours long. We did use 6 dinner credits for the 3 of us and we have 2 dinner credits left.
For us, even splitting meals, we feel like we have more than enough credits left and hope to use them all up in the next 2 days. And to think that we considered paying cash for some snacks on the first day because we wanted to "save" our snack credits! Too many credits and not enough time!
Just as a note, we had ADRs for all of the dinners before we left home. I don't know how hard it is to get ADRs after arriving, however, on Main Street today, a sign said that they still had openings at Tonys, the Plaza, and Liberty Tree Tavern for lunch. It will be interesting to see what happens with the new "Entitlement Program" (please see my other post).
As to crowds, it's busy but we did walk on Jungle Cruise, and Aladdin's Carpets at about 9:00 p.m. tonight. The biggest line we have seen so far was for Soarin (90 minutes) and Turtle Talk with Crush had a big line in the Living Seas yesterday. The single rider line for Expedition Everest was a walk on Monday morning at about 10 a.m. Also, the first show of the day of Lights, Motors, Action car show was a walk-on at MGM.
