Free Dining Pin Question

This may get confusing:

My boyfriend and I and a few other friends will be going down to Disney World in October. My boyfriend and I received a pin for free dining that runs during our stay. Originally we were going to pass on the free dining and hope that a "room only" discount would be offered during our stay. I booked our room last night at the POFQ at full price, and hoped to call to have the room discount applied if/when . Now I am having buyers remorse and thinking that Free Dining may have been the way to go. I know I can call and have the pin applied to my reservation --- however, my boyfriend already has bought a 5 day park hopper pass from Undercovertourist and to get the "Free Dining" we each have to book at least a 2 day pass through Disney. None of our friends that are going with us will be staying for as long as us, so none of them will have use for a 5 day park hopper pass so we can't sell it to them. Do you think its possible that one of our friends could buy the "two day" pass off of us and use it during their stay. These are close friends we trust so we know they wouldn't do anything untrust worthy with his "room key/pass". Would that screw up anything else with our trip? Any thoughts? Does this post even make sense? ha

I believe the passes you buy through Disney are tied to your room reservation. I don't think you can let someone else use those. If I'm wrong I'm sure someone on here will correct me.

I think if I was in your situation I would just hold onto the tickets you got from Undercover Tourist for a future trip. Those tickets won't expire until 14 days after the first ticket is used so you can just hold onto them and give yourself a reason to go back. It's a lot of money to be out and not use, but you can look at it as a down payment for the next trip.

I wasn't sure that if our friend used the park tickets as his own (went in, scanned his thumb, and used the ticket for the couple days he's there), but he'd also be with us when we're in the park so we could get the card back if we needed to use it for anything. As far as getting into the room and using the card for our dining plan, I'd have my room key/card for that.

This is exactly what I would do. If the friend uses his thumb print with the tickets under your room I am not sure how that would affect future tickets if they are "saved" in the system...I assume they are b/c we buy 10 day no exp passes from UT and the same person must use them every trip

Not sure if that helps but if you ever plan to go back at least you have tickets at a lower price that you would pay in the future

You can usually have the ticket separated out from the KTTW card. Why not have the tickets pulled out from FD package and save those 2-day tickets for a future trip? Annual pass holders do this all the time and use the 2-day tickets toward the renewal in the future.

Thank you --- it'd just be the two days he's using it anyways then the ticket would be done and my boyfriend would get his room key back for the remainder of our stay. We know our friend wouldn't use our dining plan meals or charge anything to the room.
