Free Dining or SPD?

Are free dining promotions and SPD pretty equal in savings? I priced out a week at value with 7dph tix and qsdp for 2a/2c and came up with $2145. When I priced rack rate at value for same time and I came up with $2189. Has anyone else priced both and found that the two promotions are equal? Free dining will always save us more $ than room only discounts and I really need either FD or SPD to stick around for another year.

I just priced a trip both ways today: 7n/8d at POFQ with 8-day PH and dining plan and free dining was over $600 cheaper than the SPD promotion.

FD will always be cheaper than SPD by a few hundred dollars.

I just spoke to a WDW person and she priced out the SPD vs Free dining and said I would be paying just about equal. I cant recall the exact numbers she gave me but I am staying 1 night with an AAA discount and 8 days with no park hopper at POFQ.

I chose to stay with SPD.

Basically, with SPD you are paying (roughly) child price for the dining plan per person per night. I think for the DDP that's around $17 per person per night.

With FD you aren't paying that which is why FD will be a better deal. I've never seen anyone. to save more with FD.

Now, SPD this year worked slightly differently and did kind of an overall percentage on the package versus the child prices but it ended up being roughly the same when calculating it for most people.

I agree... I've compared what we paid last month with free dining & it was several hundred dollars more with SPD. I just don't see that being a good deal for our family.
