I'm planning to take a girls only(me and 2DD's) trip next August. Would it be too much to pray for free dining again next year? Has anyone heard any rummors? What do you think the chances are of 3 years in a row?

I was just going to ask this VERY same question!:) We are planning our *first* trip with all the kids in September '07.. And I was wondering the same thing about the free ddp! I didn't realize it was the year before too... One can only hope! I was also wanting to know if it is REALLY FREE? or do they just up the cost of your hotel room??I'll be checking back to see what every one says :)

There are no restrictions on praying in your home or in places of worship (as well as many other places, for that matter). As far as the probability that it will be offered again, it seems very possible, in the same timeframe (i.e., the heart of hurricane season) -- the praying probably won't influence things either way. :)

It is not really "free". Unless you're staying at a DVC resort using DVC points, you have to purchase admission (so if you already have admission or have a source of discount admission, you've got one issue there), and you have to pay rack rate (the highest price) for your hotel room.

A bunch of us guessed 'not a chance' last year and had to eat our words. So the best answer is who knows.

It may not be free, but it is the best discount by % I have ever seen for staying at a value. It is worth $125 a night for my family, 10 nights with 10 day tickets works out to $171 a night...

Yes, technically you have to spend money on one day tickets to get the Dining plan, but you don't have to use them for that trip, so I don't really count those.

We have AP's so we will just save our 5 tickets for a couple of years until we go back. So since I'm not using them this trip, I'm not counting them for this trip. But yes, we do have to spend money up front.

HaleyB.........I know what you are saying. I just posted this on another thread.......this is like Disney gave us $163 a day discount (family of 4A, 1C). Even if you would factor in a great AP discount for (POR) $50, we still come out ahead $113!! :goodvibes

Unless you're @ a Value, you've got to weigh (pun intended) the DP's value. Although if you've got a couple kids under 10, it's a no-brainer.

Think they'll offer it mid-July thru end of August depending on guest occupancy projections.

Doubtful since they have never offered it at that time before. The last 2 years, it's been the middle of August until the end of Sept, 1st of October.

I was one that had to eat my words...I said they would never offer it again. Yet, they did...so I had to go yet again. ;)

My thoughts are that there is a very good likehood that they will offer the "Free Dining" again next year during their slowest time...Hurricane Season!

But, who really knows (other than the Disney big wigs), maybe they will come up with some other promo!! :cool1: Whatever it is I am pretty sure my family will be there! :goodvibes

I'm basing July prediction on the following: I was dreaming of taking a spur of the moment trip 3rd week in july this year (that didn't work out). A couple weeks out there was lots of availability - exact opposite from end of june when we went & I couldn't get what I wanted 6 months ahead of time.

Guess we'll all wait & seepopcorn:: , everytime you think you've got Disney figured out, they throw you a curve.;)

I would say there is a chance they would offer it again. However, the previous promotion was only offered 2 years in a row (in 2003-stay for 4 nights and get 3 free ) (in 2004 - stay for 4 nights and get 2 free). If you are looking at going to Disneyworld in August or September, my family has been able to get some type of promotion for the past 6 years during those dates. We have compiled our total costs from each of the trips and the price ends up to be all relatively close.

I'm feeling positive about our chances for next year. Anyone keep track of past promos? I know that here in Canada they ran the same spring promo for about 4 years, but I think the late summer ones of the past 2-3 years have been far better.

What do you all think about buying passes now and possibly even booking hotel for next August in hopes of DDP or some other promo? I do realize that as free DDP stands now it requires the purchase of at least a 1 day ticket. I'm trying to make this next trip as easy on my wallet as possible, so to my way of thinking paying for part now and part later is the best way.

Speculation is speculation. Last year I went at Free dp. Boards were buzzing all last winter. "will they? Won't they?" Most of the boards were full of people speculating that they would not. Some said yes, only to be shot down by those who said no... You will also get rumors. All winter. "my friend who works at such and such says this or that". Don't get me wrong. I love reading this and half the fun is speculating what will they offer next. And who says what. But, That's just it, until the fat mouse sings it aint over...

I wouldn't buy park passes separately now if you are hoping for the free dining. Otherwise if it does come out you will need to spend an additional $70 per adult (1 day passes) to get the package.

Since the price break on the tickets comes after the 4 day mark, having to buy everyone a single 1 day ticket could eat up any savings you would gain by pre purchasing tickets at a discount.

Put the money away (My favourite trick is to buy rolls of toonies and freeze them in large blocks of ice in the freezer - each roll is $50 and if you want to spend them you have to wait for the ice to melt) and wait to see what kind of discounts come out.

Boy, it must be tough to scrounge up spending money through the Canadian winters. :rotfl: :rotfl2:

can someone answer this question? If I am staying @ a disney vacation club resort during the time for free dining but have an annual pass is there any way I can take advantage of the free dining plan? i have heard some saying that they have to only buy a 1 day admission ticket can you explain how that would work? thanks for any help.

If you're staying on points (rent or own), you can't take advantage of free dining. By using on points, your room is discounted. You can't combine discounts.

I'm also hoping for free dining next year.
