Free Dining in May?

I know historically that "free dining" has been offered in August/September.

But heard that a travel agent (told my friend) that Disney will be offering "free dining" in May and Aug/Sept.
I told her that at least since 2004, I had not seen it offered in May. But she was certain that is what her travel agent told her.

Just curious if all you wonderful Disney Board folks could tell me if this was wishful thinking on the part of her TA or if her TA is just giving her bad info??????

Since the Disney castmembers who sell/book the deal usually only get told a couple weeks before it's released, I doubt a random travel agent got the info almost a year out.

I think maybe she misunderstood?

If anything, Disney 'offering free dining in May' would likely be that the offer will be bookable in May (actually, April to June) for packages in August/September - exactly as it's been done for the last three years.

I thought through checking the boards, mousesavers, and allears - that I could not find anything on "free dining" in May - but I am not an expert - so that is why I turned to the boards to get some help!

I will pass the info along to my friend. I don't want her to get her hopes up - for going in May - when free dining is only available in Aug/Sept time frame.

I have never tried the free dining - myself and DD (age 9) have always gone in December (between Thanksgiving and Christmas). We love seeing the parks decorated for the Christmas holidays. And besides she gets to talk to Santa while at Disney World!!!
