Free Dining in January?

We are going for a week in Jan. with the MYW dining plan (paying of course) AND a AAA room discount. I just went to disney's website worked up the whole deal and then subtracted what I am paying through AAA. It is a $217 difference. So it CAN be done, the MYW w/dining and AAA room discount. I was quoted the same price through AAA when I originally asked for just a quote and when we actually booked the dining. Maybe it is another case of who you talk to!!!

I think what they are saying is that you cannot get the AAA room discount on the free dining packages only (travel Aug. 21 - Oct. 4).

I was told that you CANNOT get a room discount, then add the dining plan, free or not.

I posted my response based on this comment. I've been really confused by some things posted in other areas so I wanted to clarify for anyone that may have been confused by this. I understand that those getting free dining cannot get the AAA discount, but this poster made it sound otherwise.

Right now I have just room only with AAA rate for Jan. Is it more difficult to make changes later if I add the dining plan too? Then, if they offer free dining later, can I still update the package for that? (Of course, I understand if it's free I won't get both AAA rate free dining). It sounds like there is some debate over how it actually works.

I'm not trying to cause any more confusion or upset anyone......... I'm just going by what I was told by AAA and Disney. I am paying for the dining plan, as of now it is not "free". My trip is Jan. 29th. I guess if they let you do it where you get a discount, super, but a lot of people are reporting that it cannot be done, and they wouldn't do it for me.


Here's hoping they offer the "free" dining while were on our trip!!!!!

You CAN get a discount room and pay for the dining plan and tickets. We went June 17 and stayed 4 nights at CR. I had a discounted room for $166. I later added park hoppers and dining plan. I was still able to keep my room discount. I also double and triple checked the math and they did give me my discounted rate. Some CM's do not realize that this is possible, believe me I went round and round with some of them. They have to type in a special code to allow it but they can do it!!!!! The only problem that I had is that we also had 4 nights at AKL and with a split stay you have to essentially get 2 packages because you need to purchase tickets with each hotel stay to qualify for dining plan. We opted to do dining plan with 4 nights at CR and got 7 day PH. Would have costed too much to get second set of tickets for AKL stay. But dining plan is sooooooo worth the money. Free would be AWESOME but great deal even if paying the $35 for adult and $10 for kids. We had some great meals and got almost double our moneys worth. Not trying to argue with anyone, just letting you know that it can be done. You have to push the issue with the CM and if they tell you no then tell them to get someone else on the phone. I would have never argued except a well informed CM told me that it was possible when I was checking on something else. Of course I didn't add it that night and got the run around when I later tried to book it, but they finally got someone on who knew what to do.

I have a reservation for 7 nights at Pop Century with tickets and dining (paid) through AAA. I got the discount for the room with this package. You CAN get the discount for the room with the dining IF you book through AAA. You CANNOT get the package with the discount if you book through CRO. You can only get the AAA discount on the package through AAA. CRO will only let you book room only with the AAA discount. If free dining comes out, you lose the AAA discount, no matter where you book. I hope this helps clear up the confusion.

What do you mean by CM? Is that someone at AAA?

All staff that work at Disney are referred to as CM's. The above poster was refering to the CMs that work at CRO (Disneys central reservation office).
