I know that the free dining begins 8/26... but I was wondering if I begin my stay on the 23rd, and went through the 29th, would I get free dining for the entire vacation? Or only half of it (if thats even possible)?
So the rules have changed this year? Last year my vacation was not in the entire parameter of free dining and I was able to obtain free dining for the entire trip.

The rules haven't changed. If the OP were to begin the trip on 9/22 the entire trip would include free dining. But beginning the trip on 8/23 (before the official start of free dining) would require two reservations. One from 8/23-8/26 and the other from 8/26 on.
Think of it like the room rate "seasons".
If you check in for a week on the last day of Value season, you pay the Value season rate for your entire stay.
If you check in for a week three days before Holiday season ends, you pay the Holiday season rate for your entire stay - UNLESS you split that reservation in two, in which case you pay the high rate for the first three nights, and the low rate for the rest of the week.
It's the same with the Free Dining Plan promotion. If you check in on the last day of the promo, you get its benefits for your entire stay (or ten or fourteen nights, whatever the limit is this year). But you don't get ANY of the promotion's benefits if you check in before it starts... unless you split your reservation in two, with the break coming on the day the FDP promotion begins.
