Free Dining Check in at Resort question...

I checked my family in and had DH and kids come in to the waiting area just in case and the CM never asked for them, we just had to wait until 3pm to go to our room, as we checked in around 930am, to an absolute hoard of people. Despite that the line did move fast. There were many people in line with their families, I don't know about their experiences, but I was not asked.

cool, thanks for responding...

i'm still anxious to hear about those that did not actually have all of their party assembled at the resort and if they were able to check in for everybody or did they have to come back later?

My Family of five will be at the BC on a room only reservation before our dining. I plan on getting up early and going myself to POR to check everyone in. I don't think the room would be ready that early. I plan on going over back to the BC for breakfast when they all wake up. This will really screw up my plans if that is the case. We plan on hanging out over at BC and epcot that day.

Checked in to the Yacht Club around 11am on Sun 8/13. My DH and 3 children (all over 10 years of age) waited in the car at the front entry while I ran in to check-in. (We were headed directly to the Polynesian for an ADR, so they waited, rather than park and walk right back out). No one was in line, I was checked-in within a few minutes, AND the room was ready.... So, I had no problem getting the room keys (with free dining and park hopper tickets) without anyone else in my party being present.

We checked in at ASMo on 8/13 and they did have to see everyone in the party.

WHile waiting in the line I saw 2 occassions where person checking in was pointing to small children in the lobby - one other mom had to run over to the other little sitting room to bring small boy and show them. They didn't ask me to show my husband and son - but we were all adults (son 14 - but adult in Disney). It looked to me like some of the CMs were checking on small children only - I don't think that they figured people would find the extra credits worth the cost of making up an adult.
Absolutely. I could readily believe their intention was only to check for "phantom children" only in the case of children, 3 years old to 9 year old, registered on the reservation.

so most check-ins are okay w/out everyone being present, but two reports where all had to be present, and both of those included smaller children... i sooo hope we don't get hassled... it stinks when greedy people ruin it for the rest of the world!

just bumping for the dis'ers who are just returning from their trips...

did ya need to show all members of your party at check in for free dining?!

I checked into POP on 8/26 for 8 nights at 7:00am for 2 adults, 2 children (9 &11) alone. I collected our one day passes and room keys with dining plan. No one requested to see any other members of my party. Had a great time. We shared meals at some TS restarants and didn't track adult and children credit usage. Loved Kona and Narcoossee's. Total meals around $1900. :thumbsup2

can't wait!

we will be there Sept 20 at Ft. Wilderness.

we are going with my brothers, and their women. One of my brothers will have to meet us there later than we will arrive. I have been telling him that i think that he needs to try to get there around the same time as us so that we don't have any problems at check in.

I hope that we don't have any problems. If it is true that they really don't need everyone, then i don't have to worry about it. :confused3

Sounds like there is no need to worry though. But i want to watch this to see if anyone has any 'experiences' to mention.

thanks,

While I checked in Pop on 8/25, my kids were sitting in the lounge. No one asked where they were.

We're a family of 5 and we checked into POR on 8/15 and the CM didn't check to see that we were all there.

Nope. My niece was arriving 2 hours after us. POFQ checked all of us in, gave me keys for all of us and that was it. Aug 21 thru Aug 26. I had itinerary for her, but was never asked for it.

When I checked into Pop on 8/25, I had 2 DDs with me, but DH, DD and DS were not. They never asked to see them. But I did notice (while I was standing in line for 15 minutes) and lady with 2 boys at the counter for a while, then she left, but the boys stayed at the counter. The CM was just standing there like she was waiting for the mom to come back. I kept wondering what she was doing, but now I'm thinking maybe they asked to see the others on the reservation.

I checked in to AKL on 8/28. My party was me, DS3 and a friend with her DS9mos. DS and I arrived 2 hours before friend and her son...we were not allowed to check in without the full party, even with the only child on the DDP being with me at the time. Maybe I just caught the CM at a bad moment or something?

No, I suspect, rather, that they're randomly verifying parties, rather than doing it for every check-in.

We were at Pop 8/27. I checked in and my husband was sitting down with the children. They didn't ask to see the other members of my party. I received everyone's card and checked in without them. No problem.

Having done 2 rounds of free dining,

At ASMo I needed to re-check-in on 8/13. I did this at 6:30 AM with MANY other people. I did this by myself while my family slept. The host did not ask about my family members.

For Round 2 on 8/25, all of us were together at check-in at POFQ, so the question was moot.

Free dining ROCKS. Paying for Dining is just fine, too :thumbsup2 . I just added it for our trip in February.
