I was told by the CM when I called last week that I didn't have to buy a 1 day base because we have the AP. Now I keep reading we do need the base.

Are we ok or should I try to call back to reverify?

Have you called to add the code to your package yet? You do need to purchase 1-day tickets. They can be saved and upgraded to your next AP.

I was already booked and the CM said I didn't need the base because of the AP. It is a new policy just under 30 days and not many CM's are aware of it, but he was.

I would hate to have to be on hold forever again!

Did you book bounceback, because that might be different?
If not, unless you booked today with a Disney Visa, or are calling later in the week to apply the code, you don't yet have free dining, and so far the info is all saying that a 1 day ticket is required.

Hmmm.....

You know, thinking on what they are telling you:

Could it be that they are telling you that AP holders may PURCHASE the Disney Dining Plan?

Because that is probably true, but you are required to purchase a PACKAGE, including at least a 1-day base ticket, to get the DDP for FREE. [That's the terms of the "special" they are running, not of AP holders purchasing the DDP]

I bet that's what they are telling you, that you may add the DDP to your resort stay, but they would not be giving it for free.

I had the AP dine pkg. booked and called this morning to add free dining and had to add the 1 day ticket for each of us and switch to MYW pkg.

but can you add the free dining package (including the purchase of 1 day tickets for each person in your party) to your AP discounted room only reservation?

OR

if i call to make a new (free dining package) reservation and i have an AP, am i getting any discount on that package that a non AP holder would not get?

On the AP package you were speaking to a CM about you probably did not have to buy a MYW ticket. But those are only on AP packages.
If you are wanting another type package, then you would need to purchase a MYW ticket for everyone in your group.
Recently AP-ers were given an option to book packages that require no ticket purchases. But that does not mean all packages require no ticket booked by an AP-er.

Knowing that AP holders are now allowed to purchase the DDP, without now having to buy a one day MYW ticket, I specifically asked that question. The CM immediately laughed ans said that they had had a meeting this morning before the phone lines opened and that subject was specifically discussed. While AP holders can now buy the DDP, for the free dining promotion they will be required to buy a one day MYW ticket for everyone in the room.

Something else that is specific for this promotion is that normally you can get the regular DDP, then upgrade to the DxDDP up until 72 hours before you check in, but with this promotion if you get the regular DDP, you only have until June 22nd (end of the free dining promotion) to upgrade to the Deluxe plan..

There is no such thing as a Room Only res with dining added. Room Only means Room Only.
WDTC offers packages that include dining options. Hence then the Room Only res is cancelled so a WDTC package can be booked.

Unfortunately for the free dining pkg AP holders do not get any breaks. It's the exact same pkg everyone else gets. To get dining for free you must pay rack rate on the rooms. Disney does not allow you to stack discounts. You can choose either AP discount on the room and buy the DDP (at regular price) and no one day tickets will be required, or you can pay rack rate on the room, buy a one day MYW ticket, and get the DDP for free.

If you go with rack rate, free dining, and one day MYW tickets, those one day tickets do not expire, as long as you never stick them in a turn style to activate them. On your last day you can go by guest services and they will pull the one day ticket off your room key and they will give you a regular mylar ticket (or you can just write on your room key what you have on it and keep the room key). Next year when you renew your AP you can use that one day ticket and upgrade it to an AP, so getting the one day ticket (that we don't really need) is not really a waste. It's like have $75.62 already paid on your next years AP.
