Free dining..AAA..I am so confused!

Please let me start by saying that I am a total newbie and this is going to be our family's first trip to Disney, so I really don't know all that much. So, I apologize if this question has already been answered somewhere else.

I just read about the free dining plan. It sounds great, but I'm not sure if we would be able to get it. We booked a package from AAA awhile ago for our trip 8/15 through 8/23 - 7 day hoppers and the dining plan. Would I be able to call my AAA agent on Tuesday (we don't have the Disney Visa) and have the free dining put on the package - even though we were originally going to pay for it? I just wanted to see if anyone else has done this with a package and not a room-only reservation - I don't even know if that matters? Anybody else in this situation? Any advice would be appreciated!

I should add that I don't *think* that my AAA agent is really up on all this stuff, so I when I call I want to sound like I know what I am talking about!

Yes, you should be able to call tues and get the free dining added on. That is what we did last yr. You will lose your room discount, though.

I called on Sat because I have a Disney Visa and my AAA travel agent took care of it. I had planned to get the dining anyway so they took $495 off the bill!!!!!!

Thank you so much for your replies. I was afraid that our current reservation would have to be cancelled and we would have to make a new one. I didn't want to risk "losing" our room at the Polynesian - I have a feeling the resorts are really going to fill up with this promotion!
