Free Dining 2013

We do this as well but instead of getting true Disney dollars from the park I just made some out if card stock with my printer. You can find downloads online too. Then a week before our trip they counted how much they had and I went and bought gift cards for that amount. We use them for chores, rewards, etc.

This is an excellent idea to use the Disney dollars for rewards between now and September! Where can I get them other than a park?

The park is the only place to get them in person. (Disney Store discontinued selling them several years ago). We reuse what we have now and convert to gift card before we leave. But, I love the idea of creating your own!! Excellent idea kelly3927! :thumbsup2

I spoke with a CM today about having some mailed. I was told was to send a letter with the amount, denominations requested, and my contact information (address, phone, and/or email) to Disneyland Ticket Mail Orders, PO Box 61061, Anaheim, CA 92803-6161. We live closer to Disneyland, but there may be a Disneyworld address as well. The CM said that once they received the letter request, I would receive a call back asking for my credit card information. She double checked and said that there was "no indication" that there was a fee or shipping charge to do this.

I've never done this before, but thought I might give it a try to see how (and if) the process works. A lot more cumbersome than creating them, but I have to say, the new 2013 Disney Dollars look pretty fun!

She's correct, you can't simply add a person to an ADR, you have to do a completely new reservation.

Just for curiosity and to add to my growing wealth of knowledge, would you suggest leaving the BOG as is and wait to tell them a party of 5 at the restaurant? What should one do in this dilemma?:):confused3:)

No. Try your hardest to get it a new reservation and if not, just be prepared to have someone not eat there. BOG would be the one place that will be next to impossible to add someone at the podium. Definitely ask if you can't get a reservation for the correct number, but have a back up plan in place if they can't accommodate you. Good luck!

Yikes!!!!! Sorry, Rach! I hope everything in the end works out!pixiedust: Sending you luck!!!

I really had hoped the continued softness in the economy would prod WDW to increase their free dining dates this year, at least in October. From what I can tell in the dates in the pins some are getting, those hopes are likely to be dashed.

And if Disney had any doubts that the economy is doing better, they need look no further than the news that someone paid $1.9 million for a topless portrait of Bea Arthur. Hard to imagine that happening in a really bad economy. :scared1:

What!! How recent was the photo?:scared1:

This news begs the question - WHY?? :scared: Now if they'd paid $1.9 mil to never have to see that portrait, it would at least be a little more understandable! :lmao:

So do you have to cancel the old reservation before you attempt to make a new? Why can't you just make one for 5 first and then cancel the ones for four that you were able to rebook. Maybe they will allow you in no matter what, but if I had any option at all, I would at least attempt to change them.

It wasn't a photo. It was a painting of Bea Arthur, derived from a photo taken of her with clothes on, and the artist added the "topless" part from imagination (don't know if Bea ever approved). I've only seen her face in the portrait (don't think I could handle seeing the rest). Her hair was still mostly brown, so it must have been quite a long time ago, because she was pretty much white headed even before she was on Golden Girls. Maybe her portrait was done around the time she was in Maude.

You could check the online system for this if you signed out first. That being said, I can tell you with good certainty that there isn't a BOG reservation for that time for a party of five.

Id keep looking for another ADR, but I would just show up and tell them you have 5 before I would give it up - they could turn you away, but William likely just seat you, your just have to wait a little longer.

OT - where did you find the printable disney dollars? All the ones I've found - are super sized, not "wallet" size...

TYIA!

When I changed a reservation I already had the system said something like "you have a reservation at this restaurant at this time, do you want to cancel that reservation?" I pressed yes & it said it will hold your original ressie unless a new one is made.

Then the system stopped working and I worried my original ressie was cancelled but it wasn't... then I went in and tried again, it said the same thing.

When I was successful it just then change them out-- I got 2 emails at once. One cancelation confirmation and one new ressie confirmation.

Here's a thought-- have you considered trying to make a ressie for 1? Or maybe make it for 2?

Would your party mind splitting up-- 1 person at another table alone? Or perhaps if you can find one for just 2 people you can call and change your original res to one person less (that way you won't lose it).

You can then keep calling & trying to get in a ressie for your full party, and cancel the others if it doesn't work. But if you're not successful at least you can all go eat in the same restaurant, no one feels left out... you just can't all sit together.

I don't know if it would work for your family but if you have adults/older kids it might be worth a shot.

does anyone know why MK is closing a 7PM on september 7? How many time after the park is close can we still take the buses to ASMo? We eat at chef Mickey's a 6h20 and I want to make sure I will not have problem going back to the hotel after dinner

It is closing for Night of Joy. You should be able to get a bus, though.

forget about it, just saw it was because of night of joy festival.. SO I guess the buses will still be available during all night because of that festival?

Wanted to share here too. now that I'm a little calmed down it will be a less spastic post. I called to see if I had a Pin attached to my name. No luck, asked about hubby's name, no luck, but the lady asked for my address both times...got me thinking. Last time we booked under his name was for our Honeymoon and we were at our old address. So I asked if she could check his name against that address. LUCK!!!! :cool1: It worked!! His name old address (his sister still lives there so I don't see a moral issue with this LOL) I have NO idea what email was used when he booked our honeymoon so that would have been a bust from the start, and my email wasn't showing on my account (which may have been a glitch bc I got my res email when I made it). Anywhooooooo Good Luck all!! :flower3::lovestruc
