Free Dining 2008 Watch

Neighbor called today for September stay and was told that if they took a moderate or higher it could be converted to free dining if available. :confused3
Anyone else hear this?

I hope you dont have to book a mod or higher. Just me and dw this september. leaving kids at home and doing disney alone for first time since may 2000(disneymoon)

Another question, i believe i read this but if you have an AP you dont have to buy a park ticket, right? i hope that is the fact

Oh- no- Not to get flamed from the people who want the Free dining to start earlier than 8/30-

But I was dreading the thought that it might start the last week of August b/c we are supposed to be there from 8/24-8/29 and I was hoping to miss the free dining "crowds" during that last week! :guilty:

I would rather pay 190.00 for the DP for the 5 days I am there just to miss the crowds.:worship:

I can't decide if I agree with this thought on crowds or not. On one hand, I would think the free dining would bring in more people. On the other hand, if they don't offer the free dining in August maybe it is because there are enough people coming that they don't need to offer it. And, on my third hand, maybe some of the people with August ressies will cancel if free dining doesn't get offered???

Rumor: Free dining to be offered starting April 10
Don't quote us on this, but we've heard from multiple sources inside and outside Disney that Disney's "free dining" offer will return on April 10, 2008. We're not sure which travel dates will be included, but we'll post more information as soon as we hear it. Posted 2008-03-17

Wouldn't it be great if they offered this in the spring and the fall????:cool1:

How many hands do you have? :lmao:

Too Funny!

I am in on the free dining for Sept (bounceback from last year) Now my brother (who I PUSHED to stay on property and on dining for first time Feb break is HOOKED) and wants my family to go in Aug with His family.
So far I am booked for BOTH but honestly not sure for the Aug unless I get some type of deal, either great cheap flights or ticket deal or dining deal....Love Disney, wish I could afford to do both, but a cruise in a few weeks has taken a HUGE chunk of change and its not likely...Personally, If I get to disney once a year I feel LUCKY :cool1:

Good Luck to ALL and Happy Easter too!

But on the fourth hand:lmao: I think they have offered the free dining the past few years starting the last week in Aug- if I am not mistaken.:confused3

They open it up to booking in April. The dates of the actual Free Dining (when you actually use it) have historically been mid-late August through late September.

It would likely NOT be the fact in connection with this (or any) promotion.

Ok here is what I did….
I called yesterday s/w CM Fulton, he checked the for a code w/my name and couldn’t find one. I asked him to look again w/my maiden name and old address since I haven’t been to Disney since ’05. After holding awhile he said he had good news to make me smile …40% off the room. When I had called the other day I did the same thing but that CM said he saw a code w/my old name but that had expired.

So we were quoted $1,589.62 for a moderate 9/17-9/27/08 (2 adults & 1 free 1yr old) 9day MYW passes w/the waterpark & more. (does anyone think this is a good deal?)

He was really pushing me to purchase the Basic Dining Plan with that our cost would have been $2,349.42. And he kept saying its not a guarantee that Free dining offer will come out.

I asked he quote me what I would have paid without the 40% code but everything else the same w/no dining…$2,260.00.

So it would be a better deal to get the free dining then the 40% off, Since FREE dining not yet announced I thought it better to take the 40% off in case it never is.

CM also said if I change my mind and want to add the dining to ask for code AHT does anyone know why I would have to use a code if I was going to pay for dining?

Another question I have w/the 9day myw w/waterpark fun how many waterpark/pleasure island days do you have and do they take away from the days @ the main parks? CM wasn’t sure. And should I change my myw pass to a 10 or 11 day pass to accommodate 10 or 11 days of meals should we get the ddp?

Another site--the one connected to the UG--says they have info that Disney will start offering free dining on April 10. No info on the travel dates yet.

no, they say they have RUMOR... although i firmly believe it will happen, it's still not written in stone...

Ok, from what I know. You will not be able to use the free dining on top of the 40% code. It will be either or.

As for the tickets. The myw ticket is for the 4 major parks. The water parks, and Disneyquest you can visit up to 4 times. They do not take away from your 9 days, at the main parks.
Going by your dates. You are staying 10 nights. You would have one day to use the waterpark option, unless you broke up your days.

The price quoted is great one! You have to choose what is the better fit for your family. You will pay the quoted 2,260, if you choose to get free dining, when offered.

Also, it is the number of nights per stay the dining plan goes by, not by the days on your tickets.

So, if you stayed for 10 nights. You would be getting 10 TS, 10 CS, and 10 snacks per person, per your stay. Excluding the little one. Hope this helps!

I will also be watching!

We are going on our first trip this year and I've been anxiously waiting to find out about the free dining. If it is offered we will stay in a moderate resort and go as late in Sept as possible. If not, we'll go in Oct and stay at a value resort and buy the plan.

Thanks for getting this thread going!
