So, a couple of questions here which I'm hoping someone can help me with please :)

Firstly, my friend and I will definitely be booking by June 20th for the free DDP offer with Disney UK. At the moment, it's definitely just the two of us booking. Another friend of ours also wants to come with us but is unsure whether it is possible or not. The trip won't be until next May, and she wondered if she could be added to the booking at a later date i.e. get added to the room, buy a 14 day ticket with the package... would this be possible?

Now for quite a silly question... if she did get added to our booking at a later date (after June 20th), she wouldn't get the free dining would she? or would she?

And now the last question (I promise! :)) - this other friend who is unsure if she'll come with us, lives in the US. If she does get added, would she still be OK with using the tickets bought through Disney UK in the room package? As in, they're not just for UK residents or anything are they?

Sorry if I've asked some silly questions - it's just better to be safe than sorry 'ey?! :thumbsup2

Any of you can used the UK tickets. If you are booking the package (i.e. the lead guest has a UK mailing address) then you are free to do so. There is no ID or nationality/residence check for using the UK tickets

Regarding the free dining plan, the way I understand it is that you can add more people to your booking at any time, but if you add them after the current offer has ended, they don't get the dining free. This is my understanding based on past questions/posts on the UK side of the DIS, however I am not sure how that works as I know that a DDP condition is that everyone on your room reservation has to be on the same DDP, which I think is a measure they take to prevent sharing

If my understanding is correct - when you book direct with Disney you are paying per accommodation.

So if the two week trip is say £1600 for POR that is the same cost whether 2 or 3 of you are in the same room, the additional cost is the extra £240 odd for the park tickets per person in order to get the DDP.

I would speak to your friend and ask if they are happy to commit to this amount - if they can come then I presume they woul contribute to the room bringing your costs down. If they can't make it you may be able to remove them for and Admin fee (£50 normally) or worst case you are potentially £240 out of pocket.

Have a chat with them but personally I think it is worthwhile adding them to the booking to make sure they have DDP - check the T&Cs as if you can cancel their place it may only be the admin cost you would be down.

I would just check with Disney that if your friend(s) booked park tickets and subsequently found they couldn't travel, whether all on the booking would be liable for the admin fee as you would be reducing your holiday cost. In other words, you may also end up paying £100 unless your friends would cover this cost as well.

It may be a bit of a risk, but they could always hold off booking should Disney extend the offer - they have done this in previous years but no guarantee. If they didn't book until after the offer had expired, I can't be 100% sure but you may find that for you all to get free dining, you may have to rebook and you lose your free DDP.

The upside is that if they do come with you, the room cost would be reduced, although unless you book a one or two bed apartment at OKW or SSR, you would end up sharing beds!!

However, I have seen a good few posts on various forums where people who had previously committed to a holiday had subsequently bailed out and has caused all kinds of problems, so I would suggest you make it very clear and agree with your friends that if they get added to your booking, then they take responsibility for paying any admin charges if they cancel.

Sorry to bump this up but just wanted to thank you guys for your help! I also asked the same question to the WDTC I.e. if we added extra people to the booking after June 20th, would they still be eligible for free dining.

They responded:
Thank you for contacting the Walt Disney Travel Co. UK.
If the original booking included the Free Dining, adding an additional guest, they to will be included in the offer.

So that's good to know I suppose! Also gives me huge peace of mind knowing that my friend and I can now book sooner rather than later and that i do not have to pester the others so much :)

Yes, it shouldn't be a problem- glad WDTC confirmed it for you and that's what we did last year. I had made a booking for OKW/DDP last October and added my sister to our booking just a few weeks before we went (well past the date the offer ended). It was really easy and she got the free dining too.

A few years ago, I added my sons friend and he got the free dining, all i had to pay was for the park ticket.

We booked last year to stay at AKL and at that time my son was adament he didnt want to go . Then a couple of months ago he changed his mind so we rang to see if we could add my son to our Booking and a very helpful lady sorted everything out for us and he has free dining so it is possible . We just had to add the park ticket.
