Have you attended this? I saw another post with the basic info. Can you call ahead to confirm the time, etc as we will be there the week of Labor Day when things tend to change from summer to fall in terms of scheduling. Also, are bugs bad or is the fire and a little bug spray enough to keep them at bay? I have never gone to this and am thinking it might be perfect for my DD 3.5yrs old, first trip.

thanks for your input
Kim

We are planning on doing this on our trip. I was told we can confirm the time with the consierge or at guest services. I don't know about the bugs, but I had planned on putting some bug spray and seeing how it goes.

I will let you know how it goes.

I believe that it is only open to resort guests. You have to take one of the Ft Wilderness On Property buses to get to the actual area so maybe they id there??? Maybe an attendee or Castmember can tell us more?!

Resort guests only-any WDW resort though, not just Ft. Wilderness

We are currently staying at Windsor Hills (8/2 thru 8/10) and went to watch a movie and make smores last Saturday night. You don't have to be a resort guest to attend. (Last summer we stayed at the Swan - considered a Disney resort - and went to FW to eat at the buffet, then watch the movie and make smores.)

This year we had to drive to FW (don't enter where the FW guests and campers enter - there is another entrance where the kennel is located) and there is no charge to park there. You walk to the bus stop and just ask the drivers which bus takes you to the campfire/movie. I think it was the Yellow bus; but I could be mistaken - just ask.

The bus driver will tell you where to get off. We brought our own graham crackers, marshmellows and hershey bars at Super Walmart. You can buy the wooden sticks for $.53 each. We really didn't each need one; I just bought one for everyone.

The movie started at 8:40 p.m. (the schedule is probably different other times of the year) and you can make smores all throughout the movie - there are two fire pits. The seats were a little different than last year. There are the "bleacher" seats in the back and this year the "log seats" had backs to them. DH was worried about his back hurting without support, but the seats had backs to them!

We had a great time and the best part - we made family memories that the kids talk about all year! We don't have a fireplace at home, so this was really special to them. We watched "Cars"; I had never seen it before. Sorry I can't give you any information about the Chip & Dale sing a long; we didn't do that part.

Super!!!!! I'm so glad others can now attend because the kids loved it!!!!! I should have stated that the last time we did this was, when i thought about it,10 years!!!!!:scared1:

Thanks so much for your detailed reply:banana: I am sure to work it into my plans.:grouphug:

The schedule changes with the time change usually from 8:40 for the movie to 7:40. Also, that is the movie start time. You should be there an hour before to get the full marshmallow roasting, sing a long experience.
After a few songs Chip and Dale will come out into the audience for pics/ autographs - you will only get either chip or dale, not both (one does one half , one does the other) All the while the sing a long is still going on. It is really a lot of fun for kids & adults.
You'll park in the parking lot (it may say hddr parking), and take the interior bus to the meadows pool (either the orange or purple bus will take you there, one just lands you a little closer)

Orange or yellow will get you there, purple serves the cabins and won't go near the campfire. Orange gets you closest.

If you go and it is still in the warm months, take your bug spray. Last time we did it, the bugs drove us to leave before the movie was over.

This sounds so cool - and it's truly free?

We're planning a trip to WDW in mid-December. Does anyone know if they offer this year round?

:santa:

This is a year round program and it really is free - if you don't bring your own s'mores supplies you will want $ to buy those and they also have some snacks there (hot dogs, pizza, beer, pop and I think nachos)

And to clarify my earlier post - the orange bus runs up the middle of the campground thus dropping you off closest to the campfire, the yellow (not purple) bus runs up the outside and will drop you by loop 1500 where you walk across the street, over the bridge and behind the pool is the campfire.

We've done it and really enjoyed it. We did it once on site (staying at POP) and once while staying off-site - drove to the FW parking lot as a pp explained.

Just a heads-up for anyone not staying at FW or WL and is planning to use Disney transportation....be prepared for quite a journey. From POP - we went from there to MGM (you have to go somewhere first to transfer as buses do not go from one resort to another), then to FW, then onto the internal FW bus system to get to the dropoff point for the campfire (that's 3 buses total - probably at least 45 minutes travel time (we had to wait about 15 minutes at one of the bus stops)). On the way home - internal FW bus to main bus loop (we had to wait about 15 minutes here), Bus to DTD (as most of the parks were closed), then Bus back to POP (had to wait about 10 minutes here). Needless to say - our 3 and 4 year olds were exhausted as were DH and I.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that it is MUCH EASIER to go to this if you have a car. Otherwise - it is still possible - but you will not enjoy yourself if you're not at least prepared for the somewhat-inconvenient method of having to take 3 buses.

However, having said all that - it was worth it and I investigated going again on our upcoming trip - unfortunately The Pacifier is playing on the night I had in mind and my 3 and 5 year olds won't go for that one.

We stayed at WL in Feb with my parents and our three kids. DH and I had a date night at Epcot and my parents took the kids to the campfire. They had a great time!!!

We are planning on going there on our last night to surprise our DS. His cousins arrive in Disney that day (neither one knows the other will be going), so we will meet them for dinner in FW, then the campfire. Is there a way I can find out what mvie will be playing that night? I could not find anything online so far. Thanks!

This sounds great - think we'll try it on the next trip. One problem... now I'll have to revise my Excel Itinerary... :rolleyes1 :lmao:
