This week (7/24 - 7/30) Office Max will be offering select backpacks, totes and messenger bags for FREE after Max Perks Rewards (Limit 2)! This should give you a chance to save a lot of cash as you head into the school year. This is good both in store or online.
First you need to sign up for an Office Max Rewards Card and then purchase one of the select backpacks online or in store. Within 90 days you should receive 100% of the money back on your Max Perks account (not including tax and shipping).
I did this last year and got the 100% back on two tote bags that I purchased. I used the credit towards the purchase of a new office chair for my scrapbooking area!!
One issue is that you get the money back in rewards, so you need to spend the money at Office Max. However, I knew I was going to be buying a chair anyway, so no problem for me. The other issue is that you don't get it back for 90 days. I think I redeemed the rewards around October?? If you don't feel like you can wait that long, then don't do it.
It seemed most backpacks and totes were included. The ad made it seem like "select" bags.
Details are on the front page of their ad:

Also, they have a ream of printer paper for $6.99 and you get back $6.98 in Max Perks. Same details apply (get back the rewards in 90 days).
