Free Autographed pics?

Hi,
I read in Disney on a Dime (I think that was the title) that you can mail away and request photos autographed by your favorite character, just one request per postard/letter. Is this still true? Anyone done this? The book was a couple years old I think, so not sure if it is still the case.

Yes, you can I found the address on a search on the DIS. You actually write to the character in DisneyLand. But they will send you a b/w 8X10 autographed glossy. My daughter got one form Cinderella a few months ago. I will try to find the address.

The one my DD7 received was actually personalized. It said to Princess Karli, Cinderella. HOWEVER, we also wrote Tink with no response.

I am so in! We waited in line for 2 hours before we had to get out of line to make our dinner reservation- just to see Cinderella. Along with that- can you believe how ripped off my 6 yr old felt that the castle was a hallway! I never thought to prepare her for that- she was soooo disappointed

Just wanted to add that you may not receive anything back. We sent to Ariel and Minnie Mouse in June 2005 and in March 2006 we got a B&W 8X10 of Ariel with no autograph at all and then nothing else.
It is worth a shot, just don't bank on getting it or you may be disappointed.

Apparently the address has changed:

Here is the ringer--the requests need to be sent via certified mail! Why would this matter? I am unfamiliar with what certified mail is, but it's a request for a character's picture and autograph for heaven's sake! Does this sound strange to you? Maybe it's just me...
Anyway, it will be interesting to see if the others come back too. Disney is wasting a lot of stamps mailing these requests back!

Amen! I was just about to post that info when I read yours. We tried this for different characters for our kids and got that same response. We tried the new address without certified mail (what a waste) and (nine letters later) got pre-printed "autographed" postcards in return for two out of three of our kids on the same day and never got anything for the third. One postcard was even addressed to my husband although the letter was signed from my son followed by clear printing of name and address by Mommy. We got one of all princesses and one of the fab 5.

You guys might also want to check out the thread "Paying it Forward". I think it's in the theme park thread? not sure..

People who are going to WDW will pick up a postcard and get a character to sign it for your child, then mail it to you Sounds like a really sweet idea and we'll probably be mailing out a couple to kids when we're down there this September.

You just have to post or PM someone who's going and they'll ask for your address and your child's name. They'll most of the time even write a special message for your child if you want.
