Just found out we received 2 free airline tickets, thanks to DH traveling so much for work. Now we just need to decide where to go! :)

We have to use the tickets by Dec. 31, 2004, and there are holiday blackout dates of course. It's in the continental US, so no Alaska or Hawaii for us. It will be our 5 year anniversary in June, so we could go someplace to celebrate that.

So, where would you go if you had 2 free airline tickets???

Hmmmm.. well you could do Disney.. What about going to Dollyland, I have heard that is fun..

Or, come to Boston, it is beautiful here in the Springtime.. time it around the Democratic National Convention..

Cape Cod is a lovely resort area, beautiful beaches and relaxed atmosphere.

New York City, I just love going there, maybe see some plays..

California, I would love to go there.. maybe drive the coastline. hit Disneyland..

These are not in any order, just as they came to me.

Just for 2, I'd go to Vegas. Boston would be second, and depending on the airline, you may be able to get to a U.S territory, like St Thomas. (American considers that a domestic!)

Have Fun!

I would say New York or California. :) I have never been to either, but would like to some day.

If you have not been to CA, maybe give that a shot. LA, San Francisco, San Diego, DL. Sounds great, Tamie, very happy for you and Joe.

Come to NYC!!

See some shows! Have some great food!! Do a little shopping!

Oh! Dan just gave me a great Idea. How about a lovely anniversary in wine country. Picture a lovely vinyard, a quaint B&B! Now that would be a nice anniversary, unless you don't like wine. Who said that? :p

If you are looking for something other than Disney (*gasp...what?*) try Washington D.C. My DH and I went to D.C. two years ago and really had a wonderful time. There is so much to see and do. We stayed in Alexandria near a quaint area with cobblestone streets that had shopping and restaurants. We took the train into D.C. to see the sights. Our favorite night was the night we went to the Kennedy Center for a concert (think strings, not rock'n'roll!) Very relaxing, very historical, and a great trip for two! Have fun!:D

We have 1 worldwide ticket on AA that will expire 3/31, another AA that we could get to Europe or Hawaii on and, another UA continental US ticket. We spent so much time trying to figure out where to go, how to keep it inexpensive, not to waste the tix etc., and where are we going? NO WHERE! I could just throttle DH! We would have to go w/out the kids...or really take on huge debt to add them in airfare to Europe, etc., plus they would miss school, one ticket has NO restrictions, but the other 2 do...it sounds great at first, but in our case it is just not the right timing. Mostly 'cause we blew the vacation $ on the LAST WDW trip, which we jumped on and really weren't financially prepared to take...still paying for that one.
I was hoping to get to LasVegas, as you can get rooms cheap, lots of free entertainment, SUNSHINE, just hang by the pool, I can be antertained for a LONG time on the nicle or quarter slots....maybe I should just go myself, ot take DD with me somewhere since DH has no interest in using the tix.(mostly because he does NOT want to do a flight longer than 3 hours in coach because he is tall, and hates traveling for work a lot-the HORROR!)---
Anyway, have a great time whever you choose to go!

If you have to pay for your own food and hotel, then I would say vegas or New Orleans. How about Charleston, South Carolina or Myrtle Beach.

Pick a destination that would usually be more costly for purchasing a ticket. NOT Vegas, since airfare to there is usually the most reasonable. I would choose either California, Florida, New York or Washington DC.

COME SEE ME!!!!!!! :bounce: :Pinkbounc :hyper:

If you come in early June, you can come to DS's B-day party too!!!

If not, I would be heading to the House of Mouse

For me -- other than the obvious Orlando for Disneyworld or LA for Disneyland, right now I'm craving a visit to somewhere in Arizona. :) Probably Sedona, which would mean flying into Phoenix.

Later in the year, if it's after snows have melted, I'd change my answer to either somewhere in Colorado or somewhere near Yellowstone.

If this were DH & I , I know we would be torn between Orlando(guess where???) and Las Vegas.

Depending on how much money you want to spend on the hotel once you get there. Here's where I'd go. Fly into Miami and rent a car. Drive down to the Keys and stay at www.littlepalmisland.com It is truly paradise and it would be a GREAT place to celebrate an anniversary. Another great place to go, even if you don't gamble, would be Las Vegas. The shows and dining out there are only second to NY and the hotels are just so reasonable out there. I just got back from a stay at the Bellagio, and it is one of the most romantic hotels I've stayed it, and it's a casino!!! You could also use the airline tickets to fly to somewhere a cruise would be departing from.

DH just realized that we can also fly to Canada, so he's leaning towards that.

If we go in June we don't want to go any place extremely hot, we've been to Vegas in June and it was so uncomfortable. I would love to do a Napa wine country trip, but hopefully I'll be pregnant and won't get to drink any wine.

I think Boston, Seattle and New York all sound great. I think Canada would be wonderful too though. I guess we'll have to do some research!

Can anyone recommend a city in Canada we should go visit?

I'd have to say Orlando. We've gone on four adult only trips to WDW, and have loved it. Very romantic and relaxing w/o the kids.

My dh would probably say Canada too, or California.

One of our best trips, on free tickets I might add was three days in Anaheim, visited DL, DCA and Universal Studios, drove to San Diego through Escondido and visited the Animal park (part of the San Diego Zoo), 5 nights in San Diego for the Zoo, Sea World, the beach, Old Town, etc. We loved San Diego and I would do that trip again in a minute.

Montreal! It is beautiful in the summer. You might be able to enjoy a Cirque show. Stay in Old Montreal. Beautify city with quaint hotels and the most outstanding food. Go to ModAvie for the most spectacular lamb, or Gibbies if a hunk of cow is your preference. There are museums, OH, I think their Jazz fest is in june, maybe july. Everything is walkable, or take the subway. Very clean, safe. Or you can walk the underground. There is a city beneath the city, and almost all the major hotels ar connected to the tunnels. Very modern, not at all scary. Plus shopping galore. Go to la Baie, for anything you can think of. Go to the biodome. Gosh, what a great Idea. I'm drooling and jealous. Oh yoea, there is the Notre Dame cathedral. Not THE Notre Dame but at beautiful attempt at a scale gothic cathedral.

Wishing I were going!
