Free $750 gift card!

Disney marketeers are genius at making people think they are getting a great deal for "free." In this case, the offer specifically says "with full-priced package" so already you are giving up any discounts you might have had.

The real genius is that they are convincing you that by giving up $500 in regular discounts (money you could use for airfare, your mortgage, groceries, the orthodontist, utilities, etc.) you are somehow getting $500 for "free" that can only be spent in Disney!

I'm not being cynical - just be realistic and price out any other savings you might be losing so you know exactly which deal is better for you.

Yes, that's true but since it can be used for food, ticket upgrade etc. it kind of is still a dit especially if you are there for just the 5 days. It probably would be a better discount for me at the WL if we all needed tickets. I have a 40% off right now on a woods view for 165/nigh plus tax. I could get the standard room at WL with the 750/room giftcard. To do what we want upgrade 3 passes to an AP each and pay for the room we would have to pay about 230 more than what we have now and end up with a 5 day pass plus the 4 one day passes I have. I would end up with tickets that I may never be able to use. We have 4 day passes that were from free dining and the free $500 giftcard in May (you only had to purchase a 1 day with that offer not the 5 day) Plus with the package we could use the 6 month zero int. on Disney Visa. So this way, the way I have it now, I'll use up 3 of the 1 day passes to upgrade to APs. The way they worked the last two offers - no one day passes basically length of stay. I guess if we split stay 5 nights to get the giftcards (2 rooms) and 2 nights with the pin, but then basically have to waste a day moving rooms I think we are just going to keep what we have and hope a Standard room opens up with the 40 % off. That is really the best deal aside from the 45%off with AP that ends tomorrow (no rooms since the offer was out there for standard rooms.

I thought I read somewhere that the gift card could not be used for tickets or ticket upgrades. Not sure, maybe it was the merchandise card.

You can use these giftcards for tickets. We used one of our $500 giftcards in May to upgrade a 1 day pass to an AP (even used the passalong card for the 10% off) The merchandise card is probably what you are thinking of.

The only problem with purchasing tickets is that it seems the last 2 offers required a full length of stay ticket to get the offer. You could end up with a lot of unused tickets. We have 4 one day passes, that's bad enough but a 5 or 4 (had to get with the 4/7 offer) starts getting costly. And if you can't use them because an offer requires ticket purchase you end up with them. If we didn't have all the one day passes (3 of which are to be applied to an AP upgrade) this 750 giftcard might have been the way to go for us, out of pocket it will cost us about 230 or so and end up with a 5 day ticket and our 4 one day ones. Not really worth it since the offers are including all these ticket purchases and we will have an AP already.

It is one or the other. I am trying to decide which deal will be good for me. I received a pin code and want the $500 gc. If you can use it for gratuities that would be PERFECTION!

You can use it for gratuities, signature dining, even alcoholic beverages. You can't use it to pay for your package, which must be paid 45 days in advance anyway, but you can use it to pay any incidentals you charge to your room once there. You can use it for ticket upgrades when there, like parkhoppers.

For us, we had the 40% off deal with a WL woods view for 5 nights. We save about $100 switching to the $750 GC deal, and we know we'll spend it, with 2 adults and 2 teens eating and no dining plan. :goodvibes

I had my mom call this morning and we leave tomorrow for our trip so we can't pick up the GC until the 3rd. With the buy 4 get 3 we were only getting 2 nights free at our value resort because of our flight.

The guy we talked to priced it out and said we would have to spend $133 more but then we would get a $300 GC which I said was worth it. So we changed to that deal.

My son and I have the 40% off deal at CBR standard pirate room, room only. And for just the two of us (1 adult, 1 child) it was not a better deal, we don't need tickets and eat sparingly(mostly CS).

We are going from April 20-25. We had a pin for kids play and dine free. When I called they told me it would cost $200 more to add this new deal on for CBR. That means we would essentially be getting $300 to spend on tips and food. I am trying to talk my husband into it because this way we don't have to spend any of our own money while down there. I do think it is a good deal.

It has worked out to be a better deal for us, we are staying at WL for 5 days standard room and added QS plan.

We plan on using the GC once we get there in 10 days to book HDDR (yes there's still availability) or pirate and pals firework cruise.

Also, I went to the photopass site and you can use the GC there so thats a bonus for me then if you add some alcoholic beverages and some souvies Im hoping to use the last $200 on booking the great bounce back offer that will be in my room (heres hoping)

Yes, I think with the 5 days the giftcard is a bit better. We have a woodsview at 40% off in early Feb. I wish I could just get the standard room for that or the 45% off AP rate neither are avail!! Just the 750 giftcard and we would end up spending more than it's worth to do what we want (have 4 one day passes to upgrade no need for tickets, that's the problem) At this point I think I'm going to keep trying to get the 40%off on a reg room (check online every day for ap and GP discount no go) It would be best to get the 40%off the reg room. I really don't want to keep collecting tickets. (we would end up with the 4 one day passes plus a 5 day. We have a current AP holder in the group) I don't want to do the split stay since it will waste some of a day moving and checking in and out- we have woods and in order to save on the 750 card it has to be the standard and no standards for our dates with 40% off!!

I tried pricing out our trip for January with the new deal and basically it was $500 more...and we'd get a $500 gift card....yey....

Yeah, with the Moderates it would be a better deal for the 40% off, especially if you don't need tickets.

I booked the 40% off at WL in October, and there were no standards available then. We're still in Woods view, but if I had standard view at 40% off I think it would be a better deal than the $750, since we need to buy tickets. We were originally going to do the Give A Day and get a free ticket and upgrade them to 5 day tickets, but with our trip only being a month away and with our volunteer opportunities with that kind of turnaround being pretty slim, we'll stick to the GC deal.

:goodvibes It seems the GC deal is only best for those who are staying at a deluxe and need to buy tickets and staying for only 5 days, or for those who didn't have any other deal options. Even at a deluxe, the 7 for 4 deal would have been better for us if we were staying for 7 days.
